God is Dead: Prove Me Wrong
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I was raised a Catholic. However, by the time I was in my first year of Catholic High School, I began to ask questions. I read the Los Angeles Times daily, and horrific events around the world gave me doubts about what I had believed for my entire young life. Some of the precepts of the Christian faith are contained in the “eight beatitudes.” Poor in spirit: Recognizing dependence on God. Those who mourn: Finding comfort in God through repentance. The meek: Trusting in God rather than self-assertion. Hunger/thirst for righteousness: Pursuing justice and a relationship with God. The merciful: Showing compassion and forgiveness Pure in heart: Maintaining undivided devotion to God. Peacemakers: Actively fostering reconciliation. Persecuted: Enduring hardship for living out faith. In the Bible, there are promises that those who believe in these attributes will be honored by God.
