Franklin Delano Roosevelt, “the People’s President,” was elected in 1932. From day one, it was clear that he placed the working class first. Deeply concerned about how every man and woman working in jobs which offered little or no retirement assistance, he eagerly signed the Social Security Act on August 14, 1935. To this day, Social Security is the only perfect law ever passed by Congress. This is how it was designed. Funding would not be provided by taxpayer dollars.
