Democratic countries elect governments to represent the needs and wishes of their people. Until 1981, America’s government functioned in this manner, although in a barely adequate manner. Today’s pretenders are entirely dysfunctional. Every country must pass an annual budget at the beginning of each year. The American government is unique, but, as always, not in a good way. Every year, they must agree to a “debt ceiling.” What this means is that arguments ensue based on political positions regarding which issues will receive funding and how much that might be. Although a budget had been agreed on by both parties, it meant nothing. “Politics is the worst profession in the world.” That brings us to where we are today.
