Richard Nixon Ended the Un-American Military Draft: Trump is Bringing it Back
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Millions of uninformed Americans continue to believe that Richard Nixon was our nation’s worst president. They are severely mistaken. History will prove that Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump are the there worst in history, in that order. In 1973, a Republican President, Richard M. Nixon, signed a law rescinding the mandatory draft which forced young men 18 years of age and older to serve in wars declared by their government. In 2015, Trump said: “I love wars, even the nuclear kind.” He will be remembered as a draft dodger, and for calling our men who died in WWI “suckers and losers,” asking: “what was in it for them?” I’m sure you are a little surprised that the orange buffoon pretending to be your president offers his support to reinstate the unconstitutional military draft.
