Save America: Demand Term Limits and the Repeal of the Electoral College
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Big mistake. Our Founding Fathers readily admitted that what they created was not perfect. Their biggest mistake was underestimating the weaknesses of all mankind. They mistakenly believed that their successors would be honorable and patriotic men who would improve upon their failures. Most of their ideas, their dreams, were based on human rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I will always respect their intent to make what has become the American dream available to every man and woman in our nation. They could not have foreseen how disastrous not placing term limits on all three branches of our government, and surrendering to the leaders of smaller states with the creation of the Electoral College has become. “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” History confirms that longevity, when given a position of power, brings out the worst in every man and woman in our federal government.
