Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart America’s biggest little secret is a crime against humanity: America hates the elderly. Most of what I believed about my country for the last 80 years was based on lies and illusion. Raised in the 1950’s and 1960’s, I was naive and believed that our leaders cared about the people they were elected to serve. It was all a lie, a fantasy created by corrupt and self-serving politicians. Over eight decades, my love for the nation of our Founding Fathers has faded. The reason is clear and undeniable: no one with the power to save our nation has any interest in performing the jobs for which they were elected. AMERICA IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST A study of life in developed nations revealed the reality of life in America in the 21 st century. The United States is at the bottom of every important issue: healthcare, education, and quality of life. One issue was not on the list: how America treats its oldest citizens.
