If You Enjoy Being Lied To, and Watch Television “News,” You Don’t Know Much About America
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
America has always been a “melting pot.” Our country is, by
design, a nation of immigrants. From each of them, we learn about their culture,
traditions, and most importantly, learning new ways to see the world. This is
what will hopefully make our nation a great country in the future.
America is also a young nation which is constantly moving
and changing. People living in our big cities are moving to small towns. Those who
already live in small towns frequently seek fame and fortune in New York, Los
Angeles, Chicago, and other large and diverse cities.
Regardless of our ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation,
or the color of our skin, we share many things in common, and yet we are all
individuals who are unique. No two people in the world are exactly the same. Diversity
is a good thing, and so is DEI. Only racists are opposed to the inclusion of
all Americans in every facet of our nation.
In 2025, at least 90 percent of the “news” is about what is
happening in Washington D.C., and none of it is positive or inspiring.
If the estimates are accurate, today’s events will make
history. Protests under the title, “No Kings,” will be held across America.
Their target is Donald John Trump. Your illegitimate president is openly replacing
democracy with fascist policies as he increases his power with the ultimate goal
of becoming a dictator. His fascist manifesto, Project 2025, is his playbook,
and he is following it exactly as written.
Since 2015, the mainstream media chose to protect Trump and
ignore his crimes against our nation and humanity.
The mainstream media will surely cover today’s marches in
the big cities. What about the smaller areas of our nation? They are far more
interesting, and a far better example of how the average American is looking at
what is happening to our country today. Is it possible that they are unwilling to
learn and broadcast the truth?
This all began during the 2016 campaign. It is a fact that all
media outlets gave Trump five times more coverage than all other candidates
combined. When they did report events during Hillary Clinton’s campaign, they
were negative and often in reference to her use of a private e-mail server as
Secretary of State. I found their stories biased and sexist. What I see on
television tells me that today is beginning to develop as expected. Our nation’s
largest cities have their main streets filled with a sea of people. The “No
Kings” protest will surely be historic.
However, I wish just one of the major networks would spend
their time in small towns. These people are often more informed than those in
the big cities and are eager to tell their stories.
However, “sensationalism sells advertising,” and I doubt the
billionaires who own the networks will be willing to allow all Americans to
express their opinions.
On this day, we are watching real Americans exercising their
First Amendment Rights.
