Why did Trump Pardon the Biggest Drug Lord in South America?

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

You’ve heard the story: Trump recently pardoned the former President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was convicted of trafficking 400 million pounds of cocaine by a jury in a federal court. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

The question is, why?

Trump has no answer. However, one possibility has been recently revealed.

During his trial, Hernandez hired a Republican lobby. The amount of money exchanged was undisclosed, however, it was referred to as “significant.”

When corruption in politics is the subject, the rule of thumb is “follow the money.” Did Trump promise members of his party to take action on Hernandez’ situation? Was this payback for illegal actions taken on his behalf by one or more of his oligarchs?

What I know for certain, is: “somethings rotten in Denmark, and it ain’t the cheese.”

To this day, Trump’s only response was: The US president said Hernández had been "treated very harshly and unfairly" in a social media post announcing the move on Friday.

One thing Trump has confirmed over the last 10 months is that criminals stick together. Trump is guilty of many crimes, the most egregious being treason, violating the Espionage Act, and ongoing violations of the Emoluments Clause.
