Your Government is Hiding the Truth: America is Heading Towards a ‘Greater Depression’
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
First, facts you may never see or hear on the mainstream
media.
The national debt is now more than 40 trillion dollars. Four
trillion dollars were added during Trump’s first administration between 2017
and 2021.
When he took office in 2025, the deficit was 36.2 trillion
dollars. During his year and eight months, his failed economic policies added
3.8 trillion dollars to this growing debt.
How did this happen? It’s all there for you to read, if you
care.
LOWERING TAXES FOR THE SUPER RICH: FAILURE TO PASS UNIVERSAL
HEALTHCARE, WASTEFUL SPENDING, CORRUPTION WITHIN THE PENTAGON
Trump and his corrupt party continue to give tax cuts to the
super rich and large corporations. Because thousands of deductions are available
in the tax code, no wealthy American pays the maximum of 37 percent: the lowest
rate of any developed nation in the world. The corporate tax rate is a flat 21
percent, before deductions.
In 2018, after Trump’s first round of tax cuts, Amazon and
Walmart paid zero dollars after using the many deductions available to them.
It is no secret that healthcare in the United States is the costliest
and least effective in the world. Ours is the only nation in the world that
chooses not to offer free healthcare to every citizen.
Studies prove that if America joined the rest of the world
and adopted universal healthcare, about 1.04 trillion dollars would be saved
each year. However, with the worst and most corrupt government in the world,
this will never change in my lifetime.
Trump is the most wasteful president in history. His personal
spending exceeds 10 million dollars each month. A ballroom, arch, and a helicopter
pad are not necessary. The reflecting pool contract was given to a friend, and
if it is ever completed, the original cost of $12 million will have doubled. Trump’s
illegal war against Iran has already cost taxpayers more than 75 billion
dollars, and he’s not done yet.
Next year’s budget for the Pentagon will exceed $1 trillion.
Year after year it is reported that 50 cents out of every dollar it receives is
wasted. Meanwhile, our incompetent government continues to make cuts in
necessary social programs.
I am not a financial genius, but it is easy to understand
why our nation is in serious debt. The real problem is that this cannot
continue. If it does, our nation will literally go broke and a depression far
greater than in 1929 will end America as I knew it throughout most of my 80
years.
