Massive Apathy and Chosen Ignorance: Is America Worth Saving?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart America’s economic future is no longer founded on a capitalistic society. I applaud this because capitalism is the reason for the enormous gap in income inequality. However, capitalism is far less destructive to our nation’s future than what is happening in the 21 st century. In the mid-1980’s, Reagan and his submissive administration abandoned the American people and began their support for Special Interests, also known as the super-rich, and our country’s most prosperous corporations. Massive tax cuts, the destruction of unions, and a war on the working class exposed the real Ronald Reagan. He had made a fool of millions of Americans, including yours truly. His fiscal policy of “trickle-down economics was a thinly veiled plan to increase the wealth of the super-rich. This doomed to fail policy began a decline in the quality of life for the majority.
