Only in America: If You Are a Senior Citizen, the Sooner You Die, the Better
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
The government of the United States of America places zero
value on our nation’s elderly residents. More than 44 percent of all seniors,
24.6 million seniors rely on Social Security for 100 percent of their income,
including yours truly. It is a crime that although food prices, the prices of
gasoline, and prescription drugs have increased by about 60 percent, 35
percent, and 25 percent, in 2027, our COLA will be just 3.6 percent.
Although my wife and I paid for Medicare and Social Security
for more than 45 years, we are still required to large copays for Medicare and
a monthly payment averaging $203.00.
When I die, my wife will receive a one-time payment of
$255.00. The average cost of a burial is $8,300.00. Cremation, without any
additional services, costs more than $2,200.00.
WHAT OTHER NATION’S SENIORS PAY FOR HEALTHCARE
[Elderly people in other nations do pay for healthcare,
though the costs are typically lower, more predictable, and heavily subsidized
compared to the United States. While general medical and hospital care is
usually covered by universal public systems, seniors frequently face
out-of-pocket expenses for long-term care, prescriptions, dental care, and
small co-pays.]
America can boast about another first: elder abuse.
HE TRUTH ABOUT
WHY SOCIAL SECURITY IS GOING BROKE
The “People’s President,” Franklin Delano Roosevelt, signed
the Social Security Act in 1935. It remains the only perfect piece of
legislation signed into law in 250 years.
As originally written, the program was paid for by employers
and employees. The only cost to our government was in its administration.
However, just years after FDR signed the bill into law, our
corrupt federal government began to add additional expenses to our national
retirement program.
Although additional programs were attached to Social
Security, no additional funding was added. Therefore, in reality, our elected
officials were embezzling the money contributed by me and my employers.
Your incompetent and corrupt government has been stealing
from you for about 85 years.
AMERICA IS “UNIQUE”
Most developed nations revere and respect their elders. In
America, the late-night comics attempt to make us appear to be bumbling fools
who need assistance tying our shoes.
Our government considers us an “expensive nuisance.”
Our elected officials would prefer that anyone over the age
of 70 dies as quickly as possible. It would allow them to use the funds we contributed
over a lifetime to give additional tax breaks to the super-rich.
The next time you hear a professional politician say, “America
is the greatest country in the world,” or “America is the richest country in
the world,” as them one question: “where is this America?” No one I know would
agree with either statement.
