I Am a True American. I Am Woke, Liberal, and Cherish my First Amendment Rights: Why Doesn’t Your President Believe in America?

I am a fortunate American. Born in 1946, I experienced post-war America. Only a very small number of my readers share what I felt, saw, and heard as I was growing up in the 1950s.

I remember first grade. When all of the students had taken their seats, Sister Mary told us to stand, face the American flag in the corner of the room, place our right hands over our hearts, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. This may be a bit “trite,” but it was not uncommon to feel a few tears in my eyes.

I believed in the words. However, our current federal government does not. oweHH

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The truth is, our current, illegitimate president continues to intentionally divide the people of our nation. America is no longer a Democratic Republic, it is a fascist regime. Your “president” is attempting to end “liberty and justice for all,” unless you are pure white, and wealthy.

Immediately after his illegitimate inauguration, Trump began to attack one of the most 'American’ policies in our nation’s history. As America continues to “grow up,” the percentage of pure white men and women is in decline, and a more diverse population is beginning to complete the dream of our Founding Fathers. The 2020 Decennial Census revealed the population of the United States is now just 57.8 percent pure’ white.

DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Right-wing extremists apparently consider this a ‘mandate;’ it is not. It is simply a suggestion that whether the issue is college admission, employment, public office, or any other situation, every American should have a fair and equal opportunity to compete.

However, like far too many other men and women who claim to be Americans, Trump believes that Black and Hispanic Americans are inferior to whites. By his own words and actions, it is clear that his silly red hats actually mean “Make America White Again.” His personal Gestapo, ICE is not kidnapping illegal immigrants, it is obeying Trump and involved in ‘ethnic cleansing.’

I am “woke.” Racists and bigots continue to misuse this term. It simply refers to efforts by Black Americans to be treated equally in America. Why is Trump not “woke?”

I am a liberal. I believe that our young nation must continue down a positive and progressive path, joining all other developed nations. Trump is regressive. Everything he does is focused on returning America to the dark days of the mid-twentieth century.

A decision by a biased and corrupt Supreme Court is allowing Trump to remain above the law and violate the Constitution without hesitation. He is clearly focused on the repeal of the First Amendment.

First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Trump is a tool for leaders of the Christian Evangelical movement in America. He admits that he wants to make Christianity the only recognized religion in America. Trump is adamantly opposed to free speech, including the right for all Americans to vote.

The Fourth Estate no longer exists. Trump has accomplished a goal he shares with Adolf Hitler. “All information must come directly from the current administration.” All “news,” especially television news, is fake news in the 21st century.

Finally, Trump is establishing martial law in blue states, not because local law enforcement is incapable of performing as needed, because he wants to prevent protests against his fascist and unconstitutional policies.

This completes his destruction of the most important Amendment in the Bill of Rights. Our most precious rights as Americans are guaranteed in the First Amendment. Trump is using this promise as toilet paper.

Be proud: be a true American. Always do the right thing and fight for equality for all Americans. It is way past the time when diverse Americans and all women receive the respect and opportunities granted to white men.
