More Proof the Pentagon is Incompetent and not Worth the Money
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
The Pentagon: what is it good for? Apparently, absolutely
nothing. Our military leaders live in the past and dream about what might be.
They are out of touch with the real world, including their overrated “expertise”
related to waging wars. Where is DOGE when we need it?.
Fact: our military leaders have lost every war since WWII. Their
entire organization is incompetent and wasteful, underserving of an annual
budget reaching nearly one trillion dollars. Trump wants to raise it to 1.5
trillion dollars. Watchdog groups have confirmed that 50 cents out of every dollar
goes to waste. Many of their expensive toys simply don’t work when used in
modern warfare.
ANOTHER LOSS IN IRAN IS IMMINENT, AND OUR SOLDIERS SERVING
ABROAD ARE IN GREAT DANGER
What upsets me the most is the fact that our military “leaders”
are willing to accept orders from a self-admitted fascist and a draft dodger.
Trump is not concerned about the loss of American lives, or
the fact that his war is costing taxpayers more than one billion dollars each
day. This ludicrous amount of waste could guarantee that every man, woman and
child would have free healthcare. It would pay for the college or university education
of everyone who wanted it. There would be no Greedflation.
One incident, one attack on an American base in Kuwait
confirms gross incompetence within the confines of the Pentagon.
SOLDIERS WHO SURVIVED THE ATTACK ON MARCH FIRST TELL A
DIFFERENT STORY THAN THE POLITICALLY MOTIVATED PENTAGON
On March 1, 2026, a U.S. base in Kuwait was attacked by
drones. Iran had responded to Trump’s war on their mainland.
Six base personnel were killed and more than 20 were
injured.
[US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had described the drone
as a "squirter" that slipped through the defenses of a fortified
position. But one injured soldier told CBS News: "Painting a picture that
‘one squeaked through' is a falsehood. I want people to know the unit … was
unprepared to provide any defense for itself. It was not a fortified position."]
If the Pentagon cannot defend its own, can we expect it to
defend our nation? Are we vulnerable in 2026?
Ours is the largest and most expensive military force on the
planet. Our combined branches are five times larger than all the combined
forces of all other nations.
Are we wasting nearly one trillion dollars each year? This
appears to be a fact.
I am a proud pacifist. For years I have advocated a decrease
in military funding. In the private sector, if an employee does not perform he
is fired. He does not get a raise.
