I’m in the Mood; Let’s Play “What If”

Our country is a fucking mess. The reason begins at the top
with a fat, old, brain-damaged fool, who will forever be known as America’s
worst president. I would be remiss if I forgave the legislative and judicial
branches. They, too, have proven themselves corrupt and dysfunctional.
I want to play “what if:” what if events in our nation’s
history had been different, if voters did not vote based on what they see and
hear on television and researched the men and women who received their votes.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
For eight years, Bill Clinton reversed the damage caused by
his two predecessors, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. When he left office,
our nation’s economy was in excellent shape. Then came the first election in
the 21st century.
I am an Independent voter: always have been and always will
choose the men and women I vote for based on their records and position on the
issues most important to me and my loved ones. Therefore, I am an informed
voter. During the 2000 campaign, I broke my own rule and registered as a
Democrat. I thought it was important to have a voice in the primary elections.
I believed that Al Gore would continue the polices of Bill
Clinton, and that George W. Bush was unfit to lead our nation. He was nothing
more than a tool. Republican leadership influenced his choices for
Vice-President and his cabinet. This brings me to my first “what if.”
THE FIRST TIME THE SUPREME COURT ABUSED ITS POWERS
Everyone expected a close election. We were correct.
The outcome of the Electoral College vote would decide who
would be our president. A recount in Florida’s Brower County was underway and
the result would decide if Gore or Bush would be victorious.
Violating the reason for its existence, the Supreme Court
ordered a halt to the recount and gave Bush the most controversial win in
history.
Historical fact proves that George W. Bush is the second
worst president in history. His continuation of Reagan’s failed fiscal policy,
trickle-down economics, combined with his choice to engage our country in two
unwinnable wars, placed America in the Great Recession.
Bush’s first war crime occurred when he ordered members of
his administration to lie to the United Nations Assembly, Congress, and the
American people, claiming that the leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, was
harboring “weapons of mass destruction” for Al Qaeda, the terrorist group that
attacked our nation on 9/11.
As he began to lose both wars, he forced our military to serve
as many as five tours in two war zones. The result was physical and mental
damage which continues to haunt our nation’s people in 2026.
Al Gore won the popular vote. He was the people’s choice. If
he had become our president, there is a possibility that 9/11 might never have
happened. It is highly likely that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq might have
been avoided. There is no doubt that the Great Recession would never have
become a reality.
THE “BIG MISTAKE” WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED
I have no doubt that Al Gore would have served two terms. If
the same two candidates would have been their party’s nominees, I sincerely
believe that Hillary Clinton would have easily defeated Trump in 2016.
President Gore’s policies would have been so effective and
popular, that interference by Vladimir Putin, favoritism by the mainstream
media, and the intentional effort to discredit Secretary Clinton by James
Comey, would have been futile.
With the most qualified candidate in history, and the first
woman, had become President of the United States, our economy would have
continued to thrive. The national debt would never have risen to the level it
is today. Clinton would have read the President’s Daily Brief in December of
2019 and taken immediate action to prevent a horrific loss of life which
reached more than one million under Trump.
Our nation would have remained the most respected nation in
the world.
WHAT WE KNOW
If these changes would have happened, Trump would not be
your dictator-in-chief today. America would not be a nation divided with the
use of hatred, anger, and violence instigated by the man defiling our White
House. America’s economy would be flourishing, not floundering. There would not
have been acts of treason on January 6, 2021. Greedflation would never have
become a problem. The illegal war against Iran would never have happened.
America would have joined the rest of developed nations and used every effort
available to fight climate change. Most significantly, the Supreme Court would
not be controlled by six biased and corrupt justices who hate democracy and favor
fascism.
A side note: if the popular vote decided who would be our
president every four years, both Al Gore and Hillary Clinton would have become
our presidents in 2000 and 2016.
