Why Organized Religion Was One of our Founding Fathers’ Greatest Fears
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
The First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or
abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances."
Why do you think that religion was the very first issue
addressed in the Bill of Rights, established in 1789?
THE IDEA, THE DREAM, AND THEIR GREATEST CHALLENGE
Our Founding Fathers dreamed of a nation where all of its
citizens were guaranteed free thought, freedom of action, absolute equality
under the law and by the law, and each man would have a voice in their
governance.
They left their homeland in protest. King George III
overstepped his powers, declaring the Anglican Church the only, true religion
of the British Empire. They shared a common goal: the new nation would never
have a king and freedom of and from religion would be guaranteed.
THE UNDERLYING SECRET ABOUT ORGANIZED RELIGION
Every religion has its beliefs and those beliefs are
contained in documents such as the Bible, the Quran, and the Torah. To be a
true believer, each individual must believe in and follow these rules/beliefs.
All religions were created by men. Millions of Americans
believe that organized religions were and are an effort to control their
believers with promises they could not keep. The only term which accurately
describes all religions is “cult.”
“A cult is a social group defined by unusual religious,
spiritual, or philosophical beliefs, often centered on a powerful leader who
uses manipulative tactics to control members. The term can also mean a strong,
intense devotion to a specific person, idea, or trend.”
Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Marshall Applewhite are
examples of cult leaders in America. Charles Manson, every Mafia Don, and
Donald Trump could be included.
In 1981, with the support of President Ronald Reagan, Evangelical
leaders created the “Christian Religious Right.” These men have become leaders
of a cult. The men and women who call themselves “Republicans” today, bow to
their every demand. This is a perfect description of a First Amendment
violation.
OUR FOUNDING FATHERS CONSIDERED THE FIRST AMENDMENT THE MOST
IMPORTANT PARAGRAPH EVER WRITTEN
The First Amendment is the foundation for the events which
took place inside Independence Hall between 1787 and 1789. It is why I was
proud to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning before classes began in
my Elementary School. If you don’t remember them, here’s a refresher.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one
nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”
REASONS WHY THE
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE IS NULL AND VOID TODAY
In 21st century America, the words I repeated
every morning have little or no meaning.
The words “under God,” were added in 1954, signed into law by
President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The men who created our nation would not have
given their approval.
The guarantee of “liberty and justice for all” is nothing
but a memory in America today.
After 9/11 our freedoms, our liberty, have been removed
piece by piece. The 1st, 4th, 5th, and 14th
Amendments no longer apply thanks to a corrupt and incompetent federal
government: all three branches.
“Justice” is an empty word in 2026. If laws are not applied equally
among every American citizen, there is no “justice for all.”
Laws do not apply to the rich, the powerful, or members of
our government. Trump was given absolute immunity by six biased members of the
Supreme Court in 2024. He is above all laws, and has chosen to be an
authoritarian, a dictator. He rules over America, and refuses to be an American
president. He has done nothing for our nation’s people during his five years
and seven months. Trump continues to ignore the people he was intended to
serve.
RELIGION IS AT THE ROOT OF AMERICA’S DEMISE
I am one of about 100 million Americans who reject all
organized religion. We either deny the existence of a God, or have doubts about
His/Her existence. This is our right.
Freedom from religion is equally important as is protection
for everyone to practice the religion of their choice.
We cherish the Constitution, and cannot, will not be
controlled by the rules established by the men who created all religions. The
controversial issues of abortion, same-sex marriage, and other social
differences, would not be a part of the election process if the Christian
religion was not directly involved.
Let’s remake our government into a body of men and women who
believe in the Bill of Rights and its additional Amendments, and reject the
influence of special interests.
It’s time to reverse our nation’s current policy of “profits
before people.” We, the people, are the United States of America.
