The Truth About Social Security and how Your Government is Gaslighting You

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Questions which need to be answered:

Where do the funds for Social Security come from?

What is an “entitlement?”

Why is the program underfunded?

Who is to blame?

FACT: THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS THE MOST CORRUPT AND INCOMPETENT IN THE WORLD

To learn the full truth, we must go back in time. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, “the People’s President,” was elected in 1932. From day one, it was clear that he placed the working class first. Deeply concerned about how every man and woman working in jobs which offered little or no retirement assistance, he eagerly signed the Social Security Act on August 14, 1935.

To this day, Social Security is the only perfect law ever passed by Congress. This is how it was designed.

Funding would not be provided by taxpayer dollars. Every employee and employer would contribute to the fund and added to the program based on the amount of money earned. When the employee reached retirement age, he or she would receive an amount based upon their contributions. The only government expense was managing the program.

The only fact which has not changed is that the only funds contributed to Social Security come from employers and employees.

Fake Republicans lie and call Social Security an “entitlement.”

“An entitlement is the state of having a right to certain benefits, privileges, or property, often established by law, contract, or policy. In a psychological context, it refers to an individual's belief or expectation that they deserve special treatment or unearned privileges”

The undeniable fact is, the funds existing in the program belong to you and me, not to be used by the federal government for their “pork barrel” projects.

IF THE MONEY WE RECEIVE IS ONLY BASED ON OUR CONTRIBUTIONS, WHY IS SOCIAL SECURITY IN DEBT?

The problem began in 1965. On July 30, 1965, President Lyndon Johnson added Medicare to the Social Security Act. There was no federal funding added to the program, Therefore, your government was stealing your money. This is the definition of “embezzlement.”

These are all the major programs added to Social Security since 1965, although there are six more with lesser costs involved

[Medicare (1965), which provides health insurance for the elderly and disabled, Medicaid (1965) for low-income individuals, and Supplemental Security Income (1972) for the blind, disabled, and needy aged.] The only funding continues to come from you, me, and our employers: another payroll deduction for Medicare.

IN AMERICA, THE PEOPLE ARE LAST ON OUR GOVERNMENTS TO DO LIST

Our government is eager to send money to other nations. When the fat old men in the Pentagon ask for more money, the legislature says, “how much?” However when social programs are brought to the floor, they say “maybe later.”

My wife and I are members of a forgotten group of Americans: the elderly. Without Social Security, we would be homeless. Although we receive an annual increase, it never counteracts the increase in prices at the grocery store or at the gas pump.

Medical costs are outrageous. No one in the world spends more money on barely adequate healthcare than the American people.

Only in America are seniors forgotten and our government quietly hopes that we die sooner than later.

America could use another FDR.
