America Hates Me, and I Hate America in the 21st Century

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

America’s biggest little secret is a crime against humanity: America hates the elderly.

Most of what I believed about my country for the last 80 years was based on lies and illusion. Raised in the 1950’s and 1960’s, I was naive and believed that our leaders cared about the people they were elected to serve. It was all a lie, a fantasy created by corrupt and self-serving politicians.

Over eight decades, my love for the nation of our Founding Fathers has faded. The reason is clear and undeniable: no one with the power to save our nation has any interest in performing the jobs for which they were elected.

AMERICA IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST

A study of life in developed nations revealed the reality of life in America in the 21st century. The United States is at the bottom of every important issue: healthcare, education, and quality of life.

One issue was not on the list: how America treats its oldest citizens.

If the only Great President in history, Franklin Delano Roosevelt had not established a retirement plan for all of our nation’s citizens in 1935, Social Security, every elderly American without a realistic plan from the private sector would be homeless today.

Almost every nation in the world values and respects its older people. Not America. They want us to die as early as possible. Politicians want to use the money we and our employers contributed to Social Security for their own projects, designed to help them win elections. Much of the money contributed to the fund has already been stolen to fund other projects, proving that America’s government is the most corrupt and incompetent in the world.

LIFE WAS DIFFICULT PRIOR TO THE SECOND ILLEGITIMATE ELECTION OF THE WORST MAN IN THE WORLD

Living on a fixed income is difficult to say the least. However, Trump’s failed economic policies, combined with Greedflation are forcing my wife and I to struggle and face the greatest fear of all, losing our home.

Each year we receive a tiny increase in our Social Security checks. Last year, it was 2.5 percent. We were paying 60 percent more for all the necessities of life. It’s much worse today.

In every other developed nation, seniors receive healthcare and other needs for free. Although I paid into Medicare for 45 years, I continue to pay for medical services. It is an undeniable fact that healthcare in America is the most expensive and least effective in the world.

Fact: the primary reason families become homeless in America is the cost of healthcare. And that “healthcare” is always below the standards received by wealthy Americans.

PERSONAL FACTS

I have become a disabled American. I cannot stand or walk, and the few doctors I have seen don’t know why. My legs are strong, but when I stand, I have little balance and my back begins to hurt.

There is a reason what doctors do is called “practicing medicine.”
