Real Republicans, Real Americans Would Never Vote for Trump
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Today, former Speaker of the House and 2012
Vice-Presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, announced that he will not be voting
for Trump in November.
“Character is too important for me,” Ryan told us at the
Milken Institute Global Conference. “[The presidency] is a job that requires
the kind of character [Trump] doesn’t have.”
For you and me, this means Trump is unfit for office. Our
presidents should be great men or great women, not simpletons whose only
priority is themselves.
NO ONE WHO LOVES THIS COUNTRY WOULD EVEN THINK ABOUT WASTING
THEIR VOTE ON DONALD TRUMP
I repeat myself, because it’s important: only an American
should be allowed to be our President. Trump has proven himself disloyal to the
American people. If elected, he would choose not to serve anyone who does not
support him. His loyalty is to Vladimir Putin and the Saudi Royal Family, not
to the United States of America.
PAUL RYAN WILL REMAIN A HYPOCRITE
I cannot deny that I am not a big fan of Paul Ryan. There
was a time when I believed he would become a man who saved the Grand Old Party.
However, the lies he told during the 2012 campaign were unforgivable. Even worse,
he denounced Trump throughout the 2016 campaign, but after his illegitimate win
in the Electoral College, he bowed to his Fuhrer and attempted to pass Trump’s
hastily constructed healthcare plan, knowing that it would harm millions of
Americans. He is just another “sometimes” Republican who chose to be a
hypocrite.
That said, I commend him for speaking the truth about the
worst president in American history. Trump never should have been sworn in after
the 2016 election. The election was rigged, but not exactly as he told us. His
election was illegitimate. For the first time in his life, Putin made him
appear to be something he never could be: the leader of the free world.
I PRAY THAT THE CLAIMS ABOUT REPUBLICANS ABANDONING TRUMP
ARE TRUE
The attached article, written for the Daily Kos, claims that
as many as 20 percent of all prominent Republicans are focused on abandoning
Trump, and voting for someone else. I hope this is accurate, it gives me hope
for our nation’s future, and the implausible, but possible, return of the
former Grand Old Party.
I adamantly reject the very idea of political parties.
However, the system of governance created by our founding fathers cannot
function without at least two parties who agree to disagree. Honest
deliberation and eventual compromise are the only ways a Democratic Republic
can function.
THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF THE PARTY OF LINCOLN
In 1981, Ronald Reagan demanded complete loyalty from every
member of his party. Free thought and dissention were forbidden. It was Reagan
who began the right-wing’s wars on minorities, the working class, women, and
non-Christians.
On the day Trump was inaugurated, January 20, 2017, the
Republican Party imploded once and for all. 99 percent of all men and women who
called themselves “Republicans,” abandoned the principles of the Party of
Lincoln, and surrendered their dignity and self-respect to Trump and Putin.
It is an undeniable fact that America is currently without a
second legitimate political party. They are divided between factions which
include a handful of moderates, a large number of right-wing extremists calling
themselves the TEA Party, and a smaller group in the House, which is so far to
the right they can legitimately be called fascists; the Freedom Caucus.
America is in great danger, and only the voting public can
save it for another 247 years.
