“Climate Change is the Greatest Danger to World Peace”
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
A recent survey by the United Nations confirmed that 80
percent of the world’s people are concerned about climate change. The poll
revealed that most people believe their countries are not doing enough to slow
or halt the greatest threat to mankind.
You might have noticed that America no longer leads the
world in anything positive. Right-wing politicians are owned by our nation’s
biggest polluters, including the oil industry, and businesses which continue to
rely on oil and coal to operate their factories. Although some progress was
made over eight years of the Obama administration, all of it, and more, was
negated during just four years of the failed Trump administration.
FOX News is complicit. It has supported the less than five
percent of all climatologists who deny the irrefutable fact that climate change
is caused by man’s use of products coming from carbon-based products mined from
deep inside the earth. Fossil fuels are deadly to humans and to our air, water,
and soil.
Evil is among us and they lie to protect the truth about the
super-rich. Greed is the cause of all of the world’s problems. Profit before
people has been the motto of America’s government for decades and has spread to
billionaires in other nations whose only goal is increasing their personal
wealth.
THE FACTS ARE CLEAR AND IN 2025 THE WORLD WILL KNOW THE
TRUTH
“As world leaders decide on the next round of pledges under
the Paris Agreement by 2025, these results are undeniable evidence that people
everywhere support bold climate action,” said Cassie Flynn, UNDP global climate
director.
America leads the world in one situation. We have more
climate deniers than any other nation. Millions of Americans ignore scientific
fact. They are selfish and place their lifestyles ahead of the future of billions
of others. They ignore the fact that the lives of their grandchildren could be
bleak and miserable as climate change affects all life on earth.
If it sounds like I am losing faith in humanity, it’s
because I am. I was raised by a single mother who had a great deal of help from
her parents and her youngest brother. I was raised to respect everyone who
deserved it. I was taught that personal issues, such as religion, and what
happens within the confines of our family home are to be kept private. I was
taught to appreciate what I have because there were “starving children in China.”
I know that climate change is real. Anyone who can read and comprehend
what was written in the documents provided by the vast majority of the world’s
scientists who study the changes in our atmosphere agrees . Reading the reports
of extreme weather in our own country should suffice, but if not, expand your
knowledge and learn what weather-related disasters are occurring around the
world.
Denying these facts confirm support for the super-rich and
their less than lofty goals for the future of our world. This didn’t have to
happen. The economy of the United States peaked in the 1960’s as our country
recovered from the effects of WWII. Jobs were plentiful, and with the average
citizen experiencing a growth in his or her disposable income corporations were
more profitable than ever. Most importantly, corporate profits were shared with
their workers. Promotions were earned, and the middle class grew exponentially.
It became the largest financial demographic in America.
GENERATIONS CHANGE AND THE WORLD CHANGES
Everything in the 21st century has changed, and
not all of it for the better. The men and women who created our largest
corporations are no longer with us or are retired. Their companies are now in
the control of their children or younger men and women who had been groomed as
their replacements.
In the mid-twentieth century, a profit of 30 percent was
considered exceptional. Today it is normal for a major corporation to
experience profits in percentiles reaching three digits. The biggest difference
is that these exorbitant profits are no longer shared with the men and women
who are responsible. The CEO’s and members of the board of directors, along
with shareholders, keep these profits for themselves.
TRUMP PROMISED BILLIONAIRES NO TAXES AND EVEN GREATER
PROFITS
Earlier this year Trump met with a group of billionaires. Understanding
their greed, because his only gods are money and power, he promised them something
outrageous and likely criminal. If each of them donated one-billion dollars to
his election campaign, he would ensure that they paid zero dollars in taxes,
and guarantee the passage of legislation “friendly” to their wishes. Those in
attendance included heads of corporations who are among the biggest polluters
in our country.
Our current system of taxation is a complete failure. The
U.S. Tax Code contains 6,871 pages. Most of it involves ways the wealthy can
reduce their taxes. Americans living in the low-income bracket or below the
poverty line pay no taxes at all, as you might expect. How will the government
pay the bills without an enormous income?
At a meeting last week, held in Trump’s current residence,
Mar-a-Lago, Trump revealed his plan for “fixing” the IRS. He would eliminate most
of it completely, and use increased tariffs on imports to finance our nation.
Economists say that ‘if you thought trickle-down economics
was a disaster, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.’
WHY WOULD ANYONE BELIEVE THAT A MAN WHO FAILED AT EVERYTHING
COULD LEAD A NATION OF 330+ MILLION PEOPLE?
Trump began his involvement in the world of business shortly
after receiving his obviously “paid for” diploma from Wharton. His father gave
him $413 million accumulated from income tax fraud and evasion. He lost every
penny in a short period of time.
Along came foreign interests willing to bail him out,
primarily Russia and the Saudi Royal Family. Not only did they invest in Trump’s
properties inside the United States, they helped him construct hotels in the
own cities.
It won’t surprise you that the leaders of both nations are
opposed to any actions addressing the most serious problem facing the world
today. Putin’s involvement in petroleum makes him the richest man in the world.
The Saudis have controlled oil production and prices for decades.
THE 2016 ELECTION WAS RIGGED
Trump did not legitimately win the 2016 election. Russian
agents, under orders from Vladimir Putin, spent millions of dollars on social
media influencing uninformed voters with blatant lies and half-truths. Their
efforts were to discredit Hillary Clinton, not to glorify Trump.
Putin’s efforts were successful. Trump was easily defeated
in the popular vote. However, he was given the Electoral College by a slim
margin with wins in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. All three states
recorded a lower voter turnout than expected. When the results were reported, Trump
had won all three states by a sum total of less than 80,000 votes. Interesting.
TRUMP OWNS THE MEN AND WOMEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AISLE
All men and women who call themselves Republicans continue
to follow orders from Trump, and Trump receives his orders from Putin. If Trump
is elected in November, all efforts made by Democratic presidents over the last
30+ plus years will be crushed. He and his fascist supporters will continue to
lie about how serious climate change has become, and within decades the surface
of the planet we call Earth will become uninhabitable.
It's your country, and how you vote in November will decide
if America joins in the fight against this disaster, or allow the world’s
billionaires to destroy this “big, blue marble.”
