President Biden’s Wednesday Evening Speech the Epitome of the Word “Class”
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Wednesday evening was historic. Not since Lyndon Johnson in
1968 had a sitting president qualified for reelection removed himself from his
party’s ticket.
President Biden offered his reasons for ending his campaign
for reelection in an act of pure class I seldom see in Washington.
"Nowhere else on Earth could a kid with a stutter from
modest beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware, one day
sit behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office as the President of the United
States. Here I am."
This was the beginning of his speech. He went on to explain
that his decision was motivated by one belief, it was the right thing to do for
his country.
52 YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS COUNTRY IS ENOUGH TO ASK FROM ANY
MAN OR WOMAN
President Biden began his distinguished career in 1972,
becoming the junior Senator from Delaware. He is the youngest person ever to be
elected to the Senate. His 30th birthday, the required age for a
Senator, came just two weeks after the election.
He served in the Senate until 2008 when he became President
Obama’s Vice-President. His three-and-one-half years as our President will be
remembered by all Americans.
He saved thousands of lives with a plan to distribute a
vaccine to end the spread of Trump’s coronavirus. Mr. Biden saved
tens-of-thousands of jobs and businesses by ensuring that working class
Americans received stimulus checks. With these plans in place, he attacked
critical issues facing our nation including the repair of our infrastructure.
He will leave office with our economy in the best shape it has been in since
the Bill Clinton administration.
He made mistakes along the way to the presidency, but,
unlike Trump, he learned from those mistakes and will be remembered for his
patriotism and hard work for all Americans. Joe Biden will leave behind a
legacy for which he can be proud.
NOW IT’S KAMALA HARRIS’ CHANCE TO MOVE AMERICA FORWARD
In November our country will elect our first woman
president. She will have an opportunity to move our nation forward into the 21st
century. I have no doubt that she will place the needs of all Americans first,
and continue the successful policies of her predecessor, while implementing her
own progressive agenda.
Although I am an Independent, not a Democrat, I am proud of
what the last three Democratic Presidents have accomplished for our country.
All three, Clinton, Obama, and Biden, rescued our nation from the severe
economic damage caused by their Republican predecessors.
Thanks to President Biden’s class and courage to do the
right thing for his country, Kamala Harris has been given an opportunity to
place America on a path to prosperity and improve the quality of life for each
and every one of our nation’s 330 million people.
