“White House Down,” a Nearly Perfect Title for January 6th

I was watching the movie, “White House Down” for the third or fourth time today. It was first released in 2013.  I couldn’t help but notice the comparison between the characters who violently invaded the White House in the film, and the traitors who attempted to end democracy on January 6, 2021, the darkest day in American history, when they stormed the Capitol Building.

If January 6 had happened prior to the release of the movie, it would have been easy to see the relationship between the characters portrayed by the actors and the real villains who violently invaded the building which houses our legislative branch in 2021. They shared beliefs in racism, bigotry, and displayed a desire to enact massive violence against our perceived enemies, all Muslims.

THE MOVIE HAD A REALISTIC END: THE LEADER OF THE FAILED COUP ON JANUARY 6 IS SEEKING A RETURN TO THE WHITE HOUSE

The primary difference between the movie and reality came at the end of the story. The Speaker of the House, who organized the rebellion, was arrested and taken away by the FBI. On January 6, a sitting president, who planned, organized, and executed the assault on our nation’s government walked away a free man, proving that there are no laws in America for the rich and powerful in the 21^st century.

I feel it strange when a movie is more realistic than reality.

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE AFTERMATH OF JANUARY 6

I am not unaware of what happens in Washington. I will be the first to tell you that the government of the United States is the most corrupt in the world. The 546 men and women who control the future of more than 330 million people, 435 members of the House, 100 Senators, nine Supreme Court justices, a President, and a Vice-President, are a secret society which protects themselves while lying and hiding reality from the people, who are the true rulers of this country. All elected officials are merely public servants, at least by design.

It is an undeniable fact that in no other country in the world would a man who was solely responsible for attempting to overthrow an existing government would be allowed to remain free. Imprisonment or execution would have been the rule of law, and action would have occurred almost immediately.

THE FORMER IS NOT THE WORST PART OF THIS STORY

The Constitution has always been “the Law of the Land.” However, the branch of our government which has a single purpose, to protect and preserve that Constitution, has been corrupted and continues to prove that today’s Supreme Court is the enemy of the people.

The 14^th Amendment specifically forbids any man or woman from holding public office who has engaged in the attempted destruction of our nation’s legally elected democratic government, or aided and abetted those who committed an act of treason. However, this bastardized Court exonerated Trump which allows him the possibility of becoming our nation’s president. What a f**ked-up country America has become, thanks to politics and the desire for wealth and power.

OKAY, IT’S JUST A MOVIE; OR IS IT?

Movies are made to entertain viewers. For the most part, they are not intended to be taken seriously. However, if you were watching television on January 6, 2021, something happened which was unimaginable. For three hours I watched a large number of Neo-Nazis violently assault the Capitol, searching for Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence with a single purpose in mind: murder. At the age of 75 I was watching something I never believed possible. I was glued to the television as traitors to my country vandalized a government building and assaulted the Capitol Police.

Later I learned that Trump was watching his people perform actions he had just recently ordered, on television. He did nothing to halt the attempted coup for more than three hours.

When it was all over, I realized I had watched an insurrection, and the person who planned and ordered the attack on our democracy was currently living in the White House. There was no doubt in my mind that Trump was a traitor to my country. This was a man who four years earlier had taken an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. This same old man was now attempting to destroy that same sacred document.

NO ONE HAS DONE IT “BETTER”

No foreign nation, no single traitor, in America’s 248-year history has caused more harm to our country than Donald John Trump. When our nation is attacked by one of our enemies, our people put aside their differences and unite against a common foe. However, when Trump and his Neo-Nazi army attempted to destroy the very foundation of our country, we became more divided than we were during the Civil War.

Trump will forever be remembered as our greatest mistake.
