Tell Me Why Republicans Hate Mothers

For some reason, Republicans worship a fetus, even when it appears to be nothing more than a polliwog. At the same, time they display their disdain for the woman who is pregnant with that miniscule biological growth developing in her uterus. This is their reasoning for the biased Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v Wade

The important question is “how has the repeal of Roe v Wade affected women across America?”

Red states continue to pass legislation preventing legal abortions, all too often when the situation involves rape or incest. The most stringent laws have been passed by the regressive state of Texas.

IF YOU ARE A WOMAN IN TEXAS, YOU ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU ARE A THIRD-CLASS CITIZEN

In 2021 the Republican-dominated state legislature banned medical care for women who legally chose to eliminate an unwanted pregnancy. From 2019 through 2022, “the rate of maternal mortality cases in Texas rose by 56%, compared with just 11% nationwide during the same time period,” according to an analysis by the Gender Equity Policy Institute.

“There’s only one explanation for this staggering difference in maternal mortality,” said Nancy L. Cohen, president of the GEPI. “All the research points to Texas’ abortion ban as the primary driver of this alarming increase.”

“Texas, I fear, is a harbinger of what’s to come in other states,” she said.

LET’S PUT THIS DISCUSSION ABOUT ABORTION RIGHTS IN PERSPECTIVE

One fact no one in the mainstream media is talking about is that abortion should never have become a political issue. My grandfather taught me many things, among them were, “your religion and your politics must remain personal, and not subjects for discussion in public.”

A woman’s right to make choices about her mental and physical health should have remained a personal and private issue. However, pro-lifers decided to make it a political issue with assistance from the Christian Religious Right. Republicans, who are partially owned by the CRR, chose to make this First Amendment right a tool for winning elections.

Pro-lifers, the CRR, and today’s fake Republicans would like you to believe that making a decision to terminate an unwanted or ‘forced’ pregnancy is casual and even a convenience. This is far from the truth.

I had the occasion to talk to several women who had abortions, and the universal comment made by each of them was, “this was the most difficult decision I ever made in my life.” They all said the same thing regardless of how they became pregnant.

WHAT I BELIEVE

No government, no man, has the right to force a woman to comply with the beliefs of others. This issue should never have become public: it is a personal and private matter. It is what America is all about. Individual rights must be protected if they do not result in harm to the majority.

Most importantly, the first line of the First Amendment has been violated by right-wing politicians for decades. Religion has no place in a democratic and free society.

Regardless of your feelings about religion, it must remain a personal decision. No one religion is of greater importance than another. Those of us who reject all organized religion must be protected without prejudice or bigotry entering into the situation.

America is about the freedom and right of all people to think, make decisions, and act in accordance with their beliefs, their conscience.

This is my America, and it’s worth saving. It’s worth fighting for.
