We Should be Looking at this Election as a Trial in a Criminal Court of Law
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
The issue is, “what have you done for 330+ American people
in your political career, and what will you do now?”
If we eliminate all the lies, innuendos, personal attacks,
and focus completely on what the candidates have accomplished or will
accomplish for the American people throughout their political careers, we can
make an intelligent decision. This is the same way a jury decides the outcome
of a criminal trial: the facts. The results of an election should be addressed
with the same degree of importance.
BOTH SIDES SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO TELL THE TRUTH UNDER OATH AND
IN FRONT OF THE TELEVISION CAMERAS
Instead of the type of election we have today, it could be a
one-day event when all Americans are glued to their electronic devices. (The
debates were intended to provide that opportunity, but only one candidate
debated the issues this year. The other made a complete fool of himself). All
Americans would have one vote, secured by a PIN. After both presidential
candidates present their cases, and are cross-examined by their opponents, the
vote would be taken and within minutes we would know who would lead us for the
next four years.
Of course none of this will ever happen. Professional
politicians cannot long exist without lies and illusions. This is why America
is the only nation in the world which allows a campaign season to last two
years or longer. The civilized world around us prevents the process from
lasting longer than three months.
However, America is a business, and the billions of dollars
spent during each general election is “good for the economy.” Politicians have
no concern that this waste of money could be used to fund much needed social
programs for the majority of our nation’s people. This will be discussed at
some other time.
IF YOU ALLOW THE TELEVISION ADS TO INFLUENCE YOUR VOTE, YOU
ARE TOO STUPID TO BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY ELECTION
I detest political advertisements. They either make me laugh
or make me angry. Nothing irritates me more than lies, and these ads are 99.99%
lies or the use of their opponent’s statements taken out of context.
You hear it every day because it is the truth. The 2024
election is the most important election in America’s 248 years. It is a battle
for democracy vs a desire to create a fascist society with Trump as your
Fuhrer.
It could also be an historic election. For the second time
in eight years the American people have an opportunity to elect our first woman
president.
The United States is a little slower than other developed
nations. Many men and some women in America continue to believe that women are
second or even third-class citizens, and are unfit for our nation’s highest
office. If we are honest, and fairly evaluate our past presidents, most have
been, at their best, “adequate.” Less than a handful have been “great.” The
worst off all time wants another chance to destroy our nation.
The failures of a group of mostly older, white men are many.
It’s past time when our country is led by a woman with a new perspective, and a
focus on the quality of life for the majority of all Americans.
I advise you to look closely at Kamala Harris’ record and
ignore the lies from desperate Republicans. I’m not trying to tell you she is
perfect. The best of our nation’s people learn and learn quickly from their
mistakes. I know the Vice-President and supported her attempt to win the
nomination in 2020.
However, President Biden made a wise choice to select her as
his running mate. In 2021, I predicted that Mr. Biden would be a one-term
president by choice. Now the American people have an opportunity to elect a
woman who is focused on our future, not on our dark past.
Your choice: on November 6th America could
celebrate a positive change for our nation and the end of the old, obese,
orange buffoon. I hope to see that day, and I ask you to do the right thing and
vote for our nation’s future on November 5th. Leave the past behind,
where it belongs.
