There is Hope: A Few Real Democrats Are Not Afraid of Trump and his Nazi Army
Bernie Sanders is technically an Independent, and more
importantly a true patriot. He has the courage to tell the absolute truth,
something few members of his party share.
One of the greatest
Senators in American history, Elizabeth Warren is standing tall among the
majority of cowards and hypocrites in Washington.
Senator Warren knows more about the need to protect
consumers from greedy corporations than anyone in our nation. Ms. Warren recently
appeared on CNBC. She was interviewed by Trump devotee, Joe Kernen. The subject
was the fact that tariffs are more than a big mistake, they offer corporations
an opportunity to take actions of pure greed against consumers.
Her first example was from 2018 when Trump placed a tariff
on washing machines. Of course manufacturers raised prices on washing machines
but why was it necessary to raise prices on dryers? Pure greed.
Kernen used the all too common right-wing tactic of redirecting
the discussion to make himself and Trump appear more favorable. It didn’t work.
Corporations will use any situation to increase their
profits. In 1973 a false claim of a diminished supply of petroleum products
forced a form of rationing gasoline at the pumps. The results were long lines
at gas stations, and an increase in pricing, which never decreased after the “crisis”
subsided.
Other commodities used the same tactics. Providers of coffee
and sugar falsely reported a shortage in two of the most common commodities in
America. Prices nearly doubled as the shortage magically disappeared. The
increase in cost was never reduced to the level prior to the shortages created
by manufacturers.
“Republicans” blamed President Biden for what was called “inflation.”
The truth was far more sinister. The billionaires/oligarchs who run our nation’s
largest corporations raised prices on necessities without justification. This
was clearly “Greedflation.”
There are five reasons which contribute to inflation: increase
in wages, increase in the price of raw materials, increase in taxes, decline in
productivity, increase in money supply. None of these occurred at sufficient
levels to force inflation between 2021 and 2025.
Of equal significance was a promise made by Trump in October
of 2024. He promised to “end inflation on day one.” Prices in our grocery stores
have not decreased, while some items become more expensive. Greedflation
continues and will soon escalate when Trump’s ill-advised tariffs force
retailers to raise prices even higher.
As the discussion between Kernen and Senator Warren came to
an end, she offered the absolute truth about corporate America.
“I love the way you're changing the subject,” Warren, whose
history of consumer advocacy includes calling out television hosts’ BS,
interjected before getting back to the issue at hand: a hike in the price of
dryers despite no tariffs on the item. “That’s an example of price gouging.”
It is clearly “us” vs “them.”
