Joni Ernst Says: “Let Them Die”
The junior senator from the confusing state of Iowa supports
Trump’s destructive “big, beautiful bill,” which means she supports drastic
cuts in Medicaid and Medicare. It also means that for Ernst, tax breaks for the
super-rich are more important than the lives of the people of Iowa and the
United States.
In a county which
overwhelmingly supported Trump in 2024, she was asked multiple questions about
Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” which is estimated to increase the national debt
by 3.5 to 9 trillion dollars over the next 10 years.
"When you're arguing
about illegals that are receiving Medicaid benefits, 1.4 million (people) …
they are not eligible so they will be coming off," Ernst said.
Someone in the crowd shouted
in response: "People are going to die."
"Well, we all are going
to die," Ernst responded. "For heaven's sakes, folks," she
continued with a smile.
I might add, “only the good
die young,” and Ernst will surely live to be 100.
She is a perfect example of
the Trump administration. They care about no one other than themselves and the
oligarchs who own them. Cuts in social programs, for the sole purpose of giving
huge tax cuts to the super-rich is a crime against humanity.
I’m going to keep this short
because every story I write about a Republican politician is far too similar.
Their purpose as elected officials disappears after election day. They obey
Trump, regardless of how destructive his policies have become.
This is especially upsetting
for Independent voters. As one of the majority, I am saddened by the fact that since
2000 my choices for who will lead our nation have been reduced by 50 percent.
The once Grand Old Party is nothing but a memory.
I am a progressive, or a
liberal, I don’t care which label you attach to my beliefs. However, in the
past the right wing was composed of true conservatives, and I admired their
service to the American people. I was pleased when I could offer my precious
vote to a true Republican.
Conservatism no longer exists
in Washington. They have become the party of ‘remove programs from the
majority, and ensure that the super-rich become even more wealthy.’ They tax
the working class and give the money to 813 billionaires/oligarchs.
The truth is: a Democratic Republic
cannot exist with a single party. The factors which made our government function
for the las 248 years were honest deliberation and compromise. People like
Ernst are totally destructive and in fact are not Americans.
