Independence Day? Not Yet

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

249 years ago today, July 4, 1776, our Founding Fathers declared their independence from the country of their birth, England. King George III considered this an act of civil disobedience. We all know what it really was, an act of courage, and a revolt against a powerful and ruthless despot. It required great courage to have faith that the people of the new nation wanted their freedom as much as they did.

They rightfully believed that the majority of men and women now living in a new world, a new nation, wanted the same things, freedom from and of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of choice, complete equality, a government which works for people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, and protects and encourages open and honest dissent.

The rest is literally history. A band of farmers, hunters, merchants, and tradesmen defeated the largest and greatest army in the world because freedom, and individual rights were worth dying for. Sadly, in 2025, our nation’s people cannot be compared to those great men and the women who supported each other throughout the Revolutionary War. Courage, and deep concern for all of our nation’s people, and the future of an entire nation is of little or no importance to the least informed citizens in the world.

On Monday, I will be 79 years old. However, if I was 39 years old I would feel the same. Patrich Henry said it best: “Give me liberty, or give me death.” I want to see the return of my America before I die.

We, the people, are once again entering into a Revolutionary War, and must engage in acts of civil disobedience at all levels.

As he did in 2017, Trump’s initial actions involved the use of his Nazi army, known as ICE, to capture, detain, and deport thousands of good men, women, and children whose only crimes were attempting to establish better lives for themselves and those they loved. However, Trump’s gestapo is not solely kidnapping illegal immigrants who are criminals, as he promised, among the detainees are men and women who are in the United States legally. In several cases, American citizens have been illegally and immorally detained and imprisoned with the intent of eventual deportation. All those kidnapped by ICE have been denied “due process,” guaranteed by the 14th Amendment.

The truth is clear, but not reported by the mainstream media. These unconstitutional, immoral, and anti-American actions by Trump’s thugs and villains are not about immigration reform. Trump’s actions are as old as time. Despots throughout history engaged in ethnic cleansing, and that is what Trump and his American Fascist Party are doing today. If you are not ‘pure white,’ with white features and white supremacist beliefs, you don’t belong in Trump’s America.

Those who call themselves “Republicans” offer the American people lies and misdirection with the intention of protecting Fuhrer Donald Trump and his 813 oligarchs. In just five months, Trump has committed more Constitutional violations than those committed by presidents, legislators, and the Supreme Court over our nation’s 249-years. Donald John Trump is the worst thing to happen in our nation’s short history, and he must be removed from the White House by any means possible. The absolute truth is ridding our nation of Trump once and for all is justifiable and the only thing that matters if our nation is to survive for another 249 years.

There will be no “Independence Day” until the name Trump is never spoken or written again. The end of another dictator will become a valid reason for the creation of another National Holiday.
