Erasing History and the Truth
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
For years, red states, dominated by Republican legislators,
have attempted to erase facts for which they do not approve from our history
books and other publications containing the truth. They want no discussion
about the fact that slavery remains our nation’s greatest crime, and pretend
that racism is no longer a problem in America. They reject any reference to the
LGBTQ community and its struggle to receive the rights guaranteed to them by
the Constitution.
Blatant lies or attempting to hide the facts cannot prevent
the truth from rising into the light of day, hopefully sooner than later.
The American Fascist Party’s latest effort was revealed by
the Nazi in the White House yesterday. The Trump administration will make
decisions about items in the Smithsonian museums which are not “patriotic.” Like
his hilarious red hats, what this really means is, “anything which reveals the
crimes and sins of white Americans.
Let’s get to the truth. Old, white men are the reason or
nation has never been great and never will be. Their rejection and refusal to
recognize the irrefutable fact that America is intentionally a nation composed
of a diverse population, which is our strength and what has shaped the good
things about our country for 249 years.
White men, and most white women, are arrogant and believe
they are superior to all other races and any ethnicity which is not from
Western Europe. I believe that anyone who does not embrace the fact that immigration
and immigrants from all nations are the reasons we exist, and why someday ours
may become a truly great nation, cannot claim the label of “American.”
[The Smithsonian Institution is composed of 21 museums, the
National Zoo, and multiple research centers and libraries, making it the
world's largest museum and research complex. Eleven of these museums are on the
National Mall in Washington, D.C., with others located nearby in the D.C. area,
two in New York City, and two more in the works.]
It is without question the most complete collection of our
planet’s history in the world.
Tell Trump and his fascists to “leave the Smithsonian along.”
In general, tell them to stop destroying everything good about America.
