“Why Trumpism?” Intelligent People Want to Know

I consider myself an intelligent person. I am not close to
the “genius” category, but I stay informed, think before I make another
mistake, and the people I admire most cherish their right to free and
independent thought: they are not “joiners.”
Like most intelligent people, I continue to ask one
question: “how is it possible that 10 years later the worst person in the world
continues to have loyal supporters?”
It’s called “Trumpism.” As the 2024 campaign lingered on, it
is true that although attendance at Trump’s hate rallies rapidly declined,
millions of men and women with questionable loyalty to their country continued
to praise their failed Fuhrer.
I see only three reasons why anyone would continue to
support a traitor, a convicted felon, a self-admitted sexual predator, and an
old, obese, white man who is incapable and unwilling to serve all Americans:
ignorance, denial, and chosen ignorance.
Trump either cannot read and comprehend what he is required
to read, or he is too lazy to read important information, including the
Presidents Daily Brief, and other documents vital to the performance of the job
for which he was given by Vladimir Putin. I assume that a large percentage of
the orange buffoon’s supporters do not read ‘real news,’ their televisions are
tuned to Fox or Newsmax 24 hours a day. They share Trump’s admission and “learn
everything they need to know from television:” popularly and accurately labeled
“the boob tube.”
It is difficult for most human beings to admit that they
were wrong about something to which they had previously committed their entire future.
To protect their egos, they deny the truth, facts which in reality are incontrovertible.
Sadly, although they know they made a serious mistake, they are desperate in
their attempts to hide their ignorance from others.
Then there are Trump supporters who ‘choose ignorance.’ They
must know that he is the least qualified person to lead our nation in history
but will always offer him their allegiance because they share his beliefs in
fascism, his plan to “make America white again,” and in defense of their own
stupidity hate anyone who does not share their destructive and prejudicial
beliefs.
So, here we are. Although the information I read from various
credible news and tech agencies alleging that Russian hackers gained access to
the voting machines in all seven swing states, making the 2024 election a
repeat of the 2016 fiasco, millions of men and women either voted for Trump
intentionally, or for anyone who had an “R” next to his or her name. Both are a
display of both ignorance and the fact that most voters are uninformed and
believe what they see on political ads on the boob tube based solely on one,
political point of view.
A democratic form of government cannot exist without the support
of an informed electorate. It is our duty to take a few minutes and vet each
candidate. Then we must vote for the best candidate, regardless of party affiliation.
Being an Independent voter is the most American thing any man or woman can do.
