33 Years ago, an Agreement Negotiated by Bill Clinton, and signed by George W. Bush, Created Economic Security for North America

NAFTA was not perfect. However, this free trade agreement
between Canada, the United States, and Mexico was critical in establishing
economic security for all of North America.
Tariffs were eliminated. All three nations were allowed to
set prices for their commodities without interference. It was very successful
until George W. Bush placed our nation in two unwinnable wars, and allowed Wall
Street to avoid oversight and nearly bankrupt our nation.
This agreement was voided by Trump in 2017.
In 2025, and although he was advised not to place tariffs on
nearly every nation in the world, Trump is playing the role of a schoolyard
bully and threatening all nations, including our closest allies and neighbors,
with outrageous tariffs unless they agree to his demands.
On September 18, 2025, Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney,
and Mexican President, Claudia Scheinbaum, met in Alberta, Canada to finalize
negotiations designed to bypass involvement by America’s failed and arrogant
government.
What will the results be? No one knows. However, this may be
the beginning of alliances between nations who refuse to surrender to bully
Donald John Trump. Trump knows nothing about anything, but one fact he should
have known: no country can exist by itself in the 21st century.
If our nation loses a significant number of trade agreements
with a growing number of developed nations, we will no longer be the “richest
nation in the world,” but one of the poorest.
The United States no longer leads the world in ‘manufactured
products.’ Most of our major corporations own and operate facilities in foreign
nations. This is where the situation becomes complicated.
America has become a country which relies on the service
industry. This is unsustainable.
Our nation’s largest corporations are owned by billionaires/oligarchs.
They are traitors to the American people, pledging their fealty not to their
country, but to Trump. Will that change if they begin to experience a reduction
in their bloated profits?
These, ‘not-so-bright’ men and women are giving Trump
everything he wants, believing that America will forever remain an oligarchy.
The problem is that Trump is an idiot. He knows nothing
about the economics of big business, and even less about how the world’s
economy functions.
His efforts to be the world’s dictator are beginning to
unravel. To the uninformed men and women who voted for him, twice, I say, “you
will get what you paid for.”
