Compassion, Understanding, Acceptance, Replaced by Anger, Hatred, and Violence

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Born in 1946, I loved growing up in my America. Unfortunately, living in Trump’s America, a man who has led a life of white privilege, filled with racism and bigotry, who is only three weeks older than me, not so much.

Growing up in the 1950’s, I loved my country as. In high school, I learned that it wasn’t perfect, but I remained proud to be an American. I believed America would only get better.

Things change, hopefully in a positive manner. However, nothing good has happened in our country over the last 10 years. Donald Trump’s America is dangerous, dark, and regressive. His country is a nation in which I do not want to live.

At home, in school, and at church, I was taught to respect all people, and treat them with compassion, understanding, and acceptance. Trump has created a world filled with anger, hatred, and violence.

This 79-year-old man must have been an angry and unhappy child. At 13 he was sent to a military boarding school only a few miles from his home. It is highly unusual for a celebrity, any well-known person, not to have friends from their past who knew them well and would make those views clear to the media. I must assume that Trump had and has no friends, not that Jeffrey Epstein is no longer alive.

My research into his Manhattan real estate business revealed that other businessmen in New York despised Trump. His business dealings were often unscrupulous, displayed a lack of fairness, and were frequently illegal.

In 2017, one of Trump’s initial actions as your illegitimate president was to seal all transcripts related to his education. I won’t speculate, but the only reasons possible are not of a positive nature.

He has failed to keep a single campaign promise in his first 235 days. He has done nothing with the exception of taking vengeance on his growing number of enemies, and attempting to ethnically cleanse America.

I, you, deserve better. BT, “Before Trump,” our nation was moving forward. As he did between 2017 and 2021, our country is moving back into the mid-1950’s when all forms of prejudice were acceptable if not encouraged.

Trump’s fiscal policy, to make his 902 oligarchs even more wealthy, is adding huge numbers to the national debt, while he and his fascist party attempt to eliminate all necessary social programs.

I am sad, and I should be. The America I loved is being dismantled piece by piece by the worst man the world has ever known.
