How I See America in the 21st Century

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

If this were a movie, it would never be released in the theaters, or on any streaming network. What George W. Bush and Trump have done to the United States of America is truly unbelievable.

A successful movie must include a great script, adapted from a book or from an original screenplay. The topic must be believable and well-written. The characters and their development must appear realistic, and plausible. If the storyline unravels, or becomes totally unrealistic, it is doomed to fail. If the characters have no value, no substance, and appear contrived, it will fail. This is what happened to America in the 21st century. Yes, America as I knew it is in decline.

All true Americans are living in a very, very bad movie. As a novelist, I could never write this story, primarily because there are no characters who are interesting. There are no heroes to rescue the masses from slavery and punishment for rejecting the bully at the center of the story.

Once trusted and respected characters, have become corrupt and turned into a 180-degree reversal of their principles and morals, are now the enemies of the people. Their obligation to protect the Constitution has been cast aside. Instead, they serve the most evil man in the world. Five men and one woman have chosen to cast aside the promises they made in their oaths of office and allow their leader to use the Law of the Land as toilet paper.

No one would watch this story. Seeing all evil, all of the time without any vision of hope on the horizon would be too depressing. And yet, here we are.
