It’s Time to Talk About What’s Really Happening to America
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
I’m an old, angry man. My anger is mostly under control,
with the exception of a few ‘crazy’ minutes every day. I have reasons for my
rage, but the only one that matters is what is happening to my America.
As most of you know, I am an original baby boomer. I was
raised in Los Angeles, California, during a time of great change. I was far too
young to understand or appreciate the gravity of the situation. In a very real
way, the 1950s and 1960s were a bloodless revolution against the establishment.
If you weren’t alive during those times, you will never
understand most of what was happening away from the television cameras.
‘They’ called us “hippies,” flower children,” and other
terms meant to be derogatory. However, we wore them as badges of honor.
The United States of America had become a nation controlled
by capitalism. Our leaders preferred war over peace. Wars were “good business.”
Unfortunately, President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s successors ignored his parting
remarks in 1961, offered in his farewell address. He believed that the
‘Military Industrial Complex’ was the greatest danger to America’s future.
The war in South Vietnam escalated as I was graduating from
high school in 1964. On September 11, 1964, I enlisted in the USAF. I couldn’t
afford to attend a college or university, and the recruiter promised that the
Air Force would provide me with training which would guarantee me a good job in
the private sector. He lied.
In 1965, the body bags began to arrive. Younger Americans
continued to ask a single question: “what the hell are we fighting for?”
Many young men moved away from America to avoid serving in
our government’s war. We believed what we told the older generation: peace,
love, and living good and fulfilled lives were of far more value than whatever
our country was gaining by engaging in another war.
After 20 years of involvement in a military conflict, our
military retreated from Vietnam in 1975. We lost another war. Peace has never
been formally established between North and South Korea to this day.
Our government and our military would invade two more
countries in 2001 and 2003. Our military lost those conflicts as well.
The division between the American people began in the 1960s,
and grew during the Ronald Reagan administration between 1981 and 1989. He
demanded unquestioned loyalty from his party. In just months after Reagan’s
first inauguration, deliberation and eventual compromise began to disappear
between the two political parties.
The division in our nation had escalated and was clearly a
danger to the future of our nation’s people. We became a country divided by “red
and blue states.”
The American people began to take sides. The differences
between the two parties were enormous as moderates began to be the minority in
Washington in the early 2000s.
What began in 1981, was completed on January 20, 2017.
In 1987, Vladimir Putin and his KGB comrades, invited Trump
and first wife, Ivana, to a meeting in Moscow. It is apparent that during this
visit, Putin began to groom Trump, who became his greatest asset. After another
encounter in 2013, also in Moscow, they finalized their plan to win the presidency
in 2016. It is now an undeniable fact that Putin succeeded. His ‘puppet’ began
to further divide our nation and violate the Constitution of the United States of
America in an obvious effort to destroy our country.
The American people stood up and evicted Trump from the
White House on January 20, 2021 with the inauguration of Joe Biden.
On November 5, 2024, Putin was not going to lose again.
According to U.S. major tech companies, Putin’s hackers invaded the voting
machines in all seven swing states, giving Trump another illegitimate victory.
Every successful general shares at least one belief with
every other general: the secret to defeating your enemy is “divide and conquer.”
With tactics founded in lies, misdirection, and conspiracy
theories, Trump and his fascist party have brainwashed millions of men and
women who are clearly less loyal to their nation than to Trump.
Trump began practices designed to control his party and
their supporters. Alternative facts: ‘tell a lie often enough and an uninformed
citizen will eventually accept it as fact,’ became standard operating procedure
for the orang buffoon.
If you want to control an ignorant electorate, play on their
weakness: human emotions. Constantly preaching anger, hatred, vengeance, and
violence while inciting violence, solidifies support from anyone who already
shares some of your vile beliefs.
Our nation will never be reunited in my lifetime. I am
positive that my assertion has become fact.
Putin and Trump have succeeded. Our federal government is
weak, incompetent, and corrupt. They chose not to inform the American people of
what was happening in October of 2016. Secrecy is the same as a lie. All
members of both parties constantly lie to us with the words, “for reasons of
national security.”
America is in bad shape today. An intelligent and ruthless
dictator whose ambition has always been the destruction of America, is using
his boy toy in the White House to dismantle America piece by piece.
The American people need leadership, but it appears that
none is available in the 21st century.
