Trump’s Approval Rating Continues to Fall as the Economy Moves Towards a Second Great Recession

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

America’s economy grows when consumers purchase goods and services produced by corporations. For more than 200 years capitalism fueled our nation’s growth. In 2025 capitalism expanded into a plutocracy/oligarchy. America is no longer in control of the government, it is ruled by 902 of the richest men and women in the world.

However, both capitalism and a plutocracy rely on discretionary spending.

[Discretionary spending refers to non-essential costs for wants rather than needs, like dining out, entertainment, hobbies, vacations, or luxury goods, which can be adjusted or cut from a budget. It contrasts with mandatory spending (rent, groceries, utilities, insurance) and represents flexible funds for personal enjoyment, lifestyle enhancements, or strategic investments, distinct from basic survival costs.]

Rich people are not usually intelligent. Their success is the result of a single talent, a single ability, which expanded into greater wealth than any one person should possess.

Proving my allegations is the richest man in the world, Elon Musk.

He is a genius in the field of engineering. Tesla and SpaceX made him wealthy beyond his own imagination.

However, the super-rich become arrogant. This is a result of their personal estimation of abilities which in reality are non-existent.

Musk purchased Twitter. Its value diminished immediately. However, his biggest mistake was entering into the ugly and depraved world of politics.

His businesses began to fail, and with failure billions of dollars were lost. He received notoriety, but not in a good way. Musk became the second most hated man in the world, only surpassed by Donald John Trump.

Most of our nation’s billionaires are displaying similar ignorance. While they celebrate increases in their wealth, they choose to be unaware that their wealth depends on discretionary spending.

Inflation continues to rise. I can personally attest to an increase in our grocery bill of 60-70 percent. My bride and I are existing exclusively on Social Security. Greedflation prevents us from purchasing anything which is non-essential to our existence and those of our dog and cat.

Ill-advised tariffs levied on nearly every nation in the world have forced huge price increases on essentials and even greater increases on non-essentials.

Trump’s tariffs are beginning to take effect. It is an undeniable fact that most Americans choose to be ignorant. They make conscious decisions to ignore the changes to come. Only when the increased cost of everything forces them to change their lifestyle will they pay attention to the fact that their president is a moron, an abject failure at everything. It will be too late. Only our nation’s 902 billionaires and 22.2 million millionaires will survive; but not for long.

America’s biggest problem is a lack of leadership. Although President Obama was a good president, he lacked the courage to engage in a war with Moscow Mitch and his fascist party.

The only great president in my lifetime was John F. Kennedy. We need him, or someone like him today. A great leader would stand up for the people and raise their middle finger to the super-rich.

American oligarchs are using an old man with diminishing intellect to control our nation’s future. Make no mistake about it, our future is dark and dismal. Our nation’s future is rapidly fading into nothing but dreams of past accomplishments.

If I sound depressed, it’s because I am.
