Why Would Any Intelligent Human Being Listen to a Man Who Has Never Told the Truth?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
You can fact check me on this. Trump has never told the
truth once in 79 years. I smirked and chuckled when I read that Trump was going
to address our country on the evening of December 17, 2025. Why would anyone
listen to a pathological liar? I know I would have become angry every time he
told another lie.
The truth: America is moving closer to another Great
Recession, and possibly a depression. Greedflation continues to make life more
difficult for most Americans. Enacting tariffs was the act of a moron who knows
nothing about international trade and economics. What he calls an immigration
policy is in reality a thinly disguised action known as ethnic cleansing. Thousands
of government employees who actually worked in Washington are looking for
employment, and America’s overall unemployment statistics are accelerating
rapidly. He violates the Constitution every time he takes a breath. He is
spending your tax dollars for personal pleasure at the rate of 12 million
dollars each month, while the average American struggles to maintain a decent
lifestyle for his or her family. Trump is making it more difficult to use your
most precious right, your vote. His blatant attacks on women, minorities, the
LGBTQ community, Muslims, and anyone whose origin is not from Western Europe
should offend all patriotic Americans.
What he has not done is address a single problem which faced
our nation on November 5, 2024, or kept a single campaign promise.
These are some of the lies he told last evening.
“Inflation is stopped.” But he didn’t stop there. Trump
attempted to demean Biden’s economy, the best since Clinton. His lie: “when I
took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the
history of our country.” Another of Trump’s, “some would say.” Who are these
someone’s?
He used a single item in a failed effort to claim that the
price of groceries has been reduced: eggs. “And everything else is falling
rapidly.” The amount my wife and I spend every week remains 60-70 percent
higher. Some of this is the result of tariffs, but most is founded in the greed
of the industry’s corporations.
Trump claims that an executive order will reduce
prescription drug prices by “as much as 400, 500, and even 600%.” Obviously,
Trump never passed a mathematics course: those numbers are an impossibility.
Although Trump is a dictator, he is not a king or a god. He cannot force the
pharmaceutical companies to significantly lower the prices of prescription
drugs.
“Gasoline is now under $2.50 a gallon in much of the
country, and some states it by the way just hit $1.99 a gallon.” I live in
Reno, Nevada. The average price remains at $3.70 per gallon.
“I’ve secured a
record-breaking $18 trillion of investment into the United States.” This is
pure fantasy. Some of his oligarchs pledged an investment of about $9 trillion.
However, that has not happened and will not until tariffs are removed and free
trade programs are reinstated.
“I’ve restored
American strength, settled eight wars in 10 months.” This is pure fantasy. For example,
Trump claimed to have ended a war between Egypt and Ethiopia. There was no war:
it was a long-standing diplomatic dispute.
[Trump repeated his false claim that “25 million” migrants
entered the country under Biden. The “25 million” figure is false; even Trump’s previous “21
million”
figure was a wild
exaggeration.]
The final tally from Customs and Immigration in December of
2024 was about 11 million. Millions had been expelled, and the total was actually
2.6 million.
Trump reiterated his long lie that during the Biden Administration
foreign nations ‘emptied their prisons and insane asylums, sending them to the
United States.’ Pure bullshit.
I continue my allegation: “If Trump’s lips are moving, he’s
lying.”
There is no “real Donald Trump.” He is a con man who will
tell you anything you want to hear.
