Justice in America is Just Another Bad Joke and a Fading Memory

My wife and I were watching television on January 6, 2021, when our show was interrupted by the always disconcerting message, “Breaking News.”

Donald Trump walked onto a makeshift podium. I almost changed the channel. I cannot listen to the old, obese, mentally ill man. He is clearly several bricks short of a load.

However, for the next three hours we watched what came to be the “darkest day in American history.”

I learned later that not only did Trump lie about the results of the 2020 election, he, a few of his aides, and leaders of several Neo-Nazi groups had planned and organized an attempted coup at the Willard Hotel over the last several weeks. Trump executed the insurrection from that podium as we watched the unthinkable happen.

OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS, JUSTICE PREVAILED

After the end of the violent attack on our democracy, arrests and trials began to happen in our federal courts. Eventually, about 1,600 fascists were convicted for various crimes related to January sixth.

However, when Trump won his second, rigged election on November 5, 2024, I feared the worst would happen, and all efforts to maintain a justice system in our nation had been in vain.

One of Trump’s first actions after taking the oath of office he never intended to keep, was expected and yet unbelievable: something which could only happen in the most corrupt nation in the world. Trump pardoned all 1,600 criminals who had obeyed his orders on January 6.

No one in our government appears to remember WWII and what it was all about. Approximately 407,000 members of our military forces died fighting to end the spread of fascism. Today, an old, mentally challenged, white, obese, draft dodger, who was anointed as the leader of the Neo Nazi movement in America in 2017, is following the right-wing’s fascist manifesto known as “Project 2025.”

TRUMP IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ABOVE THE LAW

What should be called the “Injustice Department” serves Trump and completely ignores its responsibilies to the American people.

[The Justice Department moved to dismiss the seditious conspiracy convictions of Proud Boys and Oath Keepers members Tuesday, undoing one of the Biden administration’s most celebrated victories against those who it said inspired the January 6, 2021, attack on American democracy.]

This is a direct attack on the very essence of America. Justice in America is nothing but a long, forgotten dream.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to violate the Constitution and every federal law passed by Congress over the last 249 years. So far, he has been absolved from fraud, treason, violating the Espionage Act, obstruction of justice, and more recently, murder. And yet our nation’s greatest criminal remains a free man.

Justice is not blind. She has simply joined the American Nazi Party and her fealty is to her Fuhrer.
