Ask Yourself, Truthfully, “What has Trump Done for You?”
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
The highest tax rate for the super-rich is 37 percent,
before they use the thousands of exemptions available to them, in 75,000 pages
in documents related to income tax. Corporations have a flat rate of just 21
percent. This is what Trump and his fake Republicans have accomplished since
1981.
The truth is clear and simple: Republicans place profits
before people. Independents, and some
Democrats, know how to govern, placing the needs and wishes of the majority as
priority number one.
Your illegitimate president likes to call progressives “Dumbocrats.”
He places wealth above the principles and ideals which once made America the
most respected nation in the world. Your “know nothing” president is an abomination.
HOW QUICKLY THEY FORGET
Our Founding Fathers created a system for our government
called a “Democratic Republic.” Their intention was simple and logical, but it
had one huge flaw. Politicians all too often place greed and power ahead of the
reasons for which we elected them.
The idea was to give a voice to the people, giving all Americans
an opportunity to participate in how the new nation would be governed.
However, by the 1980’s, when the United States of America
was only 204 years old, politics and personal ambitions began to take
precedence over the people. They quickly forgot that the people are the country.
The government was designed to serve us, not we, them.
THE “BERNIE SANDERS” MOVEMENT
In 2016, the name “Bernie Sanders” became well known. His
goal was to not only return power to the people, but to end the widening gap in
income inequality. He named his policy “Democratic Socialism.”
To no one’s surprise, right-wing extremists had a “hissy
fit.” They focused on one word, “socialism,” and ignored the overall concept. Across
the nation, Democratic Socialists are winning primary elections. Power must
belong to the people.
The truth is socialism is a system of government which would
remove the evils of capitalism and a plutocracy/oligarchy. Our largest and most
necessary businesses would not be owned or operated by private individuals,
sharing the profits with workers.
The basic problem with countries which implemented
socialistic policies lies in the fact that they were controlled by
authoritarian leaders. “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
The definition of Democratic Socialism;
“Democratic socialists argue that capitalism is inherently
incompatible with the values of freedom, equality and solidarity and that these
ideals can only be achieved through the realization of a socialist society.
Although most democratic socialists seek a gradual transition to socialism,
democratic socialism can support either revolutionary or reformist politics as
means to establish socialism. As a term, it was popularized by social democrats
who were opposed to the authoritarian socialist development in Russia and
elsewhere during the 20th century.”
The only changes would involve efforts to create equality
for all Americans. Over the last 250 years, our nation has devolved into a
society where “class status” is defined by “haves and have nots.” “The rich
have become richer, and the poor, poorer.”
TRUMP ENDED CAPITALISM AND REMADE AMERICA INTO A PLUTOCRACY
Trump and his 989 oligarchs have remade our country into a
society controlled by the super-rich in just one year and seven months.
Everything which happens in Washington is focused on increasing profits for the
wealthiest people in our nation.
Over that same short period of time, the majority, the working
class, is experiencing a steep decline in our quality of life.
Seniors, like me and my bride, are finding our very
existence is in peril. Every necessity costs more every month. Trump’s failure
to address Greedflation, combined with his ill-advised tariffs, are threatening
what was already a meager lifestyle.
I would love to see a national cry, demanding change in Washington:
“LOCK HIM UP.” Trump is a criminal we cannot afford.
