If You Enjoy Being Lied to, This is Your Time, or Join the Second Civil War
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Here’s the way I see it. Our nation is experiencing its Second
Civil War. But this time it’s taking place in the “world of opposites.”
In power on Capitol Hill and within the White House are
traitors who would overthrow the nation created by our Founding Fathers. Fighting
in the streets are patriots who are intent on protecting their freedoms and
rights as guaranteed by the Constitution, and signed by the idealistic and
courageous men who created our nation in 1789.
WHY DO MILLIONS OF AMERICANS CHOOSE LIES OVER THE TRUTH?
The first election in which I could legally vote was in
1968. That election and everyone since have been important to our nation’s
future.
Most of you cannot remember the 1968 election, or any other
until the 1990’s. Therefore, you are incapable of witnessing the election which
began the demise of the Republican Party and the path our nation chose when it
faced the fork in the road. I can attest to one fact that today’s “America” is
far from what it stood for in 1968.
ELECTRONICS, SUPER PACS, BUYING ELECTIONS, AND “US vs THEM”
Our second President: “Remember, democracy never lasts long.
It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet
that did not commit suicide.” John Adams
Winston Churchill: "Democracy is the worst form of
Government except for all those other forms that have been tried.”
The United States of America was an idea, a dream, and the
greatest challenge facing both the leaders and the people of the New Nation.
Democracy is an altruistic form of government. Its greatest
threat and greatest obstacle can be found in the weakness of mankind. Human beings
are rarely happy with the “status quo,” and seek immediate change without
effort, without serious thought, and common sense.
Our creators constructed a form of government which would
depend on the goodness of men: the willingness to place the needs, wishes, and
dreams of others ahead of their own. They believed that creating a nation based
on compassion, understanding, and acceptance would thrive and become the Greatest
Nation in World History. This was their greatest mistake.
In the 21st century, the mistakes of the past are
preventing the possibilities of the future.
REAGAN BEGINS THE END
Our 40th president, Ronald Reagan, was
inaugurated on January 20, 1981. In his first days as our President, he began
changes in both our nation’s and the Republican Party’s future.
His first demand was absolute loyalty from every Republican
in Washington. There would be no dissent and no “second opinions” from his “subjects.”
This was the first step intended to eliminate the Democratic Republic
established by our Founding Fathers. There would no longer be honest
deliberation and compromise with the party across the aisle.
Then Reagan focused on his wars against the working class,
minorities, all non-Christian religions, and women, which continue from right-wing
extremists today.
After eight years of tyranny and destruction, the Party of
Lincoln no longer existed. Republicans
who once believed in the protection of individual rights and the success of
small business had become the party seeking complete control of the lives of
all Americans and the party of Special Interests: the super-rich and their
extremely profitable corporations.
Our elections in the 21st century are decided by
campaign contributions, deceitful television ads, and Super Pacs. We are at war
with thugs, villains, anti-Americans, and liars, who plan an end to democracy
and the establishment of a Plutocracy/Oligarchy, controlled by a fascist
government.
WHERE WE ARE TODAY
The midterm election on November 3rd will decide
the future of our nation over the next two years.
If you believe the lies you see and hear on your television
from the men and women calling themselves “Republicans,” Greedflation will
continue, the economy will continue to fail, trillions of dollars will be added
to the national debt, our nation will remain at war with another Muslim nation,
and your freedoms and rights will disappear or be controlled by Trump and his
989 oligarchs.
Join the Second Civil War and make your vote a statement: “I’m
mad as hell, and I’m not taking this anymore.”
