“It’s the Economy, Stupid”
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Most Americans, thanks to the failure of the mainstream
media, believe that elections are about several critical issues. History proves
that one issue stands high above all rhe rest, during every election in history:
the economy.
The average person is concerned about one thing and one
thing only: the welfare of their family. When an election is on the horizon,
voters pay attention to their own quality of life, and answer a decade’s old question:
“are you better off than you were four years ago?”
UNINFORMED VOTERS BLEW IT IN THE 2024 ELECTION
Fact: President Joe Biden’s fiscal policy was the most
successful since Bill Clinton’s in 1999. Our nation had problems, but the overall
success of our nation’s economic future under Biden was moving forward. The
truth is, the problems that remained were created by his predecessor, Donald
Trump.
Between 2017 and 2021, Trump added $4 trillion to the
deficit, and our nation was nearing a second Great Depression. In 2026, he has already
added another $4 trillion. His super-wealthy friends, his oligarchs, are
stuffing more cash in their pockets than they ever imagined possible.
MORE CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND MORE LIES
Trump’s three campaign promises, most important to the
majority were: ending Greedflation on day one: putting an end to the invasion
of Ukraine on day one: and no more wars on foreign soil, most significantly with
another Muslim nation.
Now, in October of 2026, Greedflation, combined with Trump’s
ill-advised tariffs, have increased the cost of necessities and every other
purchase made by the working class.
Trump continues to support Putin’s efforts to destroy
Ukraine.
Without Congressional approval, Trump began a war with Iran,
a Muslim nation, on February 28, 2026. The cost has reached an unnecessary cost
of nearly 100 billion dollars in just a little over seven months. And by any
definition, Trump and his Pentagon lost another war.
FROM HIS FIRST WEEK IN OFFICE IN JANUARY OF 2025, TRUMP HAS
BEEN SPENDING YOUR MONEY LIKE A DRUNKEN SAILOR ON LEAVE
Trump never hesitated to spend your money on personal
projects and excursions focused on personal pleasure.
Giving a “no-bid” contract to a friend to modify the reflecting
pool on the National Mall, was predicted to cost 12 million dollars. Repairing
the damage, the cost has risen to a number nearly three times the original expectation.
Trump decided that he, alone, wanted a ballroom added to the
White House. Although he promised the project would require a minimal removal
of the east wing, and his billionaire supporters would pay for it, he destroyed
the entire east wing, and taxpayers are now paying for his waste of time and
money.
Trump secretly authorized an unnecessary helipad at an
estimated cost of $13 million.
He is planning an arch, dedicated to himself. The estimated
cost could reach $250 million.
Weekly and sometimes more frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago, his
frequent golf excursions, and other unnecessary trips for personal pleasure are
costing taxpayers more than $10 million each month.
By his own words, Trump “is not concerned about the financial
struggles facing most Americans,” and brags about how much he enjoys “spending
other people’s money.”
THE ONLY QUESTION WHICH MATTERS
I ask you: how is your family doing with a wannabe
billionaire in the White House?
I can only answer my question by telling you that my wife
and I are 75 and 80 years old. Our entire income is from Social Security, which
each of us paid for with our contributions for more than 40 years.
Our grocery bill is 60 percent higher than it was when Biden
was our president. Our medical prescriptions have increased by about 30
percent. Gas is nearly twice what it was in 2024. Literally everything costs
more than it did two years ago.
Joe Lombardo, the Governor of Nevada, and a Trump sycophant,
is telling us that Trump’s actions might cause us “a little pain.” This understatement
of our condition should make every Nevadan angry. I hope and pray that Lombardo
loses his reelection on November 3rd.
Your vote: your future: your country. The responsibility is
all yours.
