Trump, Easter, and Religion: Your Tuesday Morning Chuckle, and a Reason to Cry

When I was much younger and Catholic, Easter Sunday was a day for church and family. I will not lie; I did not enjoy all of my family, but no one does. However, we loved each other and those were special times, especially while my grandparents were alive. My maternal grandfather was the greatest role model a young man could have.

This was normal in the mid-twentieth century all across America, and continues to be popular today with millions of Americans. But not for the Trump family.

During the 2016 campaign, the pastor of the Christian church Trump claimed to be his own claimed that he had never seen him cross the threshold of his place of worship. No surprise there: the Antichrist is not welcome in a place of worship designated to honor the life of Jesus Christ.

Trump owns the leaders of the Evangelical branch of the Christian religion. They continue to support him although he is a traitor to his country, a convicted felon, a confirmed sexual predator, a serial philanderer, and opposes the teachings of Jesus Christ every day of his life.

Trump did not spend Easter Sunday in a church. He did not share the day with any members of his family.

On Easter Sunday, Trump used taxpayer money, at least two million dollars, to travel to his Virginia golf course. He spent most of his day riding in a golf cart, and chasing a little white ball through the grass and sand. This is his church.

Now for the little laugh I promised.

On Monday he was bragging, claiming that he brought religion back to America while he is currently separating families arrested for the crime of residing in America without proof of citizenship, although many of them have lived in the United States for many years.

“It brings the country together. It's so important that we can do that,” Trump told reporters at the newly corporate-sponsored White House Easter Egg Roll. “Religion, I said bring religion back. Religion keeps you together. It's such a great thing.” I can’t believe he had the gall to make such a ludicrous claim.

Trump is definitely the dullest tool in the shed. He has obviously never read the Bible, or any other book. The New Testament, composed from the teachings of Jesus Christ, is diametrically opposed to everything the orange buffoon is saying and doing right now. You cannot believe in Christianity if you don’t believe in Jesus.

Most of you know that I reject all organized religion: I am one of nearly 100 million Americans in the 21st century. However, I have enormous respect for those who display their deep belief in any religion; Christianity, Judaism, The Religion of Islam, Buddhism, Sikhs, or any other faith designated to the worship of a kind, forgiving, and loving God. However, I denounce every politician, every member of an organization which renounces the teaching of Jesus Christ, and many religious leaders who use Christianity as a tool to advance their personal agendas. This is not what Jesus would do.

Finally, I fear that America as I knew it no longer exists. I was taught to support and respect anyone and everyone in authority. However, over the last 10 years and longer, I have watched our government, law enforcement, and our military become increasingly supportive of fascism. Two elections proved that about 40 percent of all Americans are more concerned with material possessions than freedom, human rights, and compassion for others.

Therefore, I no longer believe that America is worth saving. If millions of voters reelected an old obese man who nearly destroyed our economy, committed treason, and don’t call it otherwise, I watched all three hours of January 6, a man personally responsible for thousands of the lives lost from the Covid-19 coronavirus, and a man who is loyal to our nation’s greatest enemy, Vladimir Putin, they don’t care about their future or the future of those they claim to love.

False patriotism is just as evil as feigning a false belief in Christianity to obtain power and money.

May the dreams of our Founding Fathers R.I.P.
