And I Thought George W. Bush Would Remain the Ultimate Joke in Washington
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Do you remember “Bushisms?” There were many and they were never-ending
in the early 21st century. Our nation’s 43rd president either
failed or refused to attend English classes in high school or college.
It was common for the late-night talk shows to poke fun at
George W. Bush’s ability to mispronounce or misuse words when he addressed the
American people. His most frequent and most remembered was “nucular” instead of
“nuclear.” He never learned to pronounce the word correctly.
NO COMPARISON
Trump is an absolute embarrassment for any man or woman who has
English as their primary language. It is this fact alone which convinced me
that there is no way Trump earned his diploma from an Ivy League College. He
was very likely the focus of many jokes at Wharton.
I admit that much of his inability to speak in clear, coherent,
and meaningful sentences is related to dementia and the fact that he will be an
octogenarian in one week. However, his thousands of appearances in front of the
television cameras over the last 11 years were filled with sound effects and rambling,
unintelligible sentences.
82nd ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY: ANOTHER EMBARRASSSMENT
FOR TRUMP AND OUR NATION
Whenever Trump is allowed to speak in front of a television
camera, two things repeat themselves: Trump brags about his non-existent
accomplishments and he embarrasses all 340 million American citizens.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the 82nd day of remembrance
for the invasion of Normandy, France, on Omaha Beach known as “D-Day,” Trump
made another rambling, meaningless speech.
Reporters assumed he would praise our military and our
allies for its most important action in WWII. Instead, he rambled on and on
about his “accomplishments,” all lies, and how he is winning the unwinnable war
he is waging against Iran. He is without a doubt the worst public speaker in
world history.
THE FRENCH FIASCO
In 2018, Trump made a trip to France, and a small city just
outside of Paris. The trip was advertised and an effort to honor American soldiers
whose remains are buried in a cemetery close by.
However, Trump refused to attend the ceremony. His
justification: "he feared his hair
would become disheveled in the rain," although the official explanation
offered by aides was that the helicopter due to take him there could not fly
due to weather.
Privately, these were his words about our heroes lying in
the cemetery who fought in WWI.
"In a conversation with senior staff members on the
morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, 'Why should I go to that cemetery?
It's filled with losers,'" the article said.
"In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump
referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as
'suckers' for getting killed," the Atlantic added, citing four unnamed
people it said had firsthand knowledge of the discussions. He added, “what was
in it for them?”
This draft dodger is once again your “Commander-in-Chief.
