Grading the First 18 Months of Your Illegitimate President and His Administration

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Our country has survived 66 months of Trump’s illegitimate rule over 340 million people. It hasn’t been easy. His regressive and destructive policies and words challenge even the most patriotic men and women in America.

Truth be told, his old age, combined with an historical level of incompetence, allowed our nation to celebrate 250 years of existence today.

PROMISES UNKEPT, FAILURES ABOUND, THE RESULT OF OLD AGE AND DEMENTIA?

All politicians are liars. Trump is not only the worst president in history by far, he holds the record for telling the most outrageous lies imaginable.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump made multiple promises, as do all professional politicians. However, three of his guarantees to the voting public contributed to his controversial victory.

Trump stood before his cult and millions of uninformed Americans promising that he would end Greedflation and the invasion of Ukraine on day one. He also promised that with him in the White House, there would be no more wars on foreign land.

Greedflation continues to grow and Putin’s invasion of the democratic nation of Ukraine continues. For both lies, Trump deserves a solid “F,” but only because there is no lower grade.

His unilateral decision to wage war on the sovereign nation of Iran, without substantial evidence cost the lives of more than 1,300 Iranian citizens, and at least 13 of our own. At a cost of one billion dollars each day, Trump has now wasted more than 120 billion dolllars, and by all accounts, Trump and his Pentagon have lost a fifth war since WWII.

If it were possible, his lie about “no more wars” would make his grade much, much lower.

The same is true about his failure to grow America’s economy.

Trump created the Department of Government Efficiency, and placed the richest man in the world in control of his newly created agency. He guaranteed a reduction in the national debt of two trillion dollars. Of course he and Elon Musk failed.

The truth is, during the first year of his second term, the deficit grew to more than 39 trillion dollars. Our great grandchildren will be paying for Trump’s failures.

THE VOTING PUBLIC FAILS AGAIN

It is an amazing fact that between 2017 and 2021, Trump placed our nation on the verge of a second Great Depression. I have no idea what voters were thinking when they voted on November 5, 2024.

In 18 months, Trump’s businesses made a profit of more than two billion dollars. His personal spending, including playing at least one round of golf every weekend, and trips back and forth to his billionaire’s playground,, Mar-a-Lago, cost taxpayers more than 10 million dollars each month. The old Air Force One cost $178 thousand each hour it is in operation. His new plane, a bribe from Qatar, costs more than $200 thousand per hour.

Add to these unnecessary excursions his ballroom, arch, his tacky birthday party, the reflecting pool fiasco, and his failed Great American State Fair, Trump is the most expensive illegitimate president in history.

After 18 months of failures, Trump’s overall rating should be “F-.”
