With Trump Defiling the White House, All of Washington is Missing Something
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Man cannot exist without humor: life is too difficult to
survive without it. Regardless of your race, sex, religious affiliation or none
at all, or your economic status, it is a fact that we all face more
difficulties than pleasure in a lifetime.
Humor in its many forms provides an escape from the
harshness of our very existence. Movies, television, books, and stand-up comics
provide a little respite from the challenges we face every day.
In my 80 years there has been one person above all others
who provided a source for comics, writers, and water-cooler chuckles: the
President of the United States.
THE MOST INTELLIGENT PEOPLE I ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE HAD A
GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR
I liked “Ike,” but the first American President I remember
well was John F. Kennedy. His speeches inspired young Americans to become
involved in their nation’s governance, and instilled a feeling of patriotism
none of our nation’s leaders accomplished since.
JFK used humor to hold the attention of his audience. I
purchased several copies of a small book titled “The Kennedy Wit.” I still have
a copy today.
Kennedy was the object of comedy writers as were his
predecessors, and would be his successors. Washington insiders claimed he
enjoyed their wit. An American President must be able to “take a joke.”
OVER THE LAST 11 YEARS, EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS
DEVOLVED
Several days ago, your illegitimate president, Donald Trump,
attempted to be the keynote speaker at the annual Washington Correspondents
Dinner. Traditionally, the keynote speaker and host was a professional
comedian. An old, obese man with an inflated ego, believed that he could end
tradition. To no one’s surprise, he failed miserably.
Any comedian will tell you that “silence is deafening.” When
an audience fails to appreciate their attempts at humor, the worst result is
always nothing, no laughter, no applause, only silence. This is what happened
when Trump attempted to tell jokes on that Friday evening.
A PERSON WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCEPT CRITICISM AND HUMOR
RELATED TO HIM OR HER, REVEALS MANY INTERESTING FACTS
Donald Trump is an old man void of any redeeming qualities. His
most obvious deficiency is his lack of ability to accept that in his position,
he is an easy and frequent target for critics and comedians. The truth is,
Trump’s own actions and words write the jokes.
Trump constantly attacks anyone who does not praise the
orange buffoon. The most popular late-night host on television, Stephen
Colbert, was fired from his show by Paramount, the parent company of CBS.
Paramount’s owners are all members of Trump’s oligarchy. Colbert was Trump’s
most vociferous and humorous satirist.
Late in 2025, the CBS news division was infected with a new
president. Bari Weiss is a Trump sycophant. She has literally destroyed what
was the most respected television news network in my lifetime. It has become a
sad parody of Fox News, spreading propaganda favoring Trump, and protecting him
from criticism.
BY HIS OWN WORDS AND ACTIONS, TRUMP CONFIRMS EVERY STORY I
HAVE WRITTEN OVER THE LAST 14 YEARS
No common sense, no possession of basic facts, an inability
to speak in intelligible sentences, an explosive temper, and his lack of the
ability to “take a joke,” all confirm that Trump is mentally unstable,
suffering from a lifetime disease known as malignant narcissism. Add to the
fact that he is a very old octogenarian, and it is an undeniable fact that
dementia has been added to his lack of mental acuity.
Instead of laughing at or with his detractors, Trump seeks
revenge. This is another sign that he is mentally unfit to lead our nation.
Trump is the reason humor no longer exists on Capitol Hill.
No one in his Nazi Party has the courage to make any remark which might offend
their Fuhrer. Right-wing politicians have surrendered their dignity,
principles, and their morals to the worst man in the world. No laughing
allowed.
