THE TRUMP EFFECT

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Trump is not handsome, charismatic, a gifted orator, or a man in possession of superior intelligence. Why would any American support a man who has failed to accomplish anything of value in his 80 years?

The answer is extremely disturbing.

I HAVE BEEN WRONG ABOUT AMERICA FOR FAR TOO LONG

I was born in 1946. As an original baby boomer, I can’t remember when I was not a true patriot. I believed what I heard: “America is the greatest country in the world,” and everyone wants to live in the United States. 80 years later, I know that it was all bullshit.

First, America has never been a “great nation.” Issues which existed before the Constitution was signed in 1789 continue to exist today.

America is a racist and bigoted nation and little has changed over the 250 years of its existence. There is no such thing as “liberty and justice for all.” If you are not Black, Hispanic, Asian, a Muslim, a member of the LGBTQ community, a woman, or anyone else who is not pure white, male, and wealthy, you probably don’t agree with me.

In its early years, immigrants began to arrive from Western Europe. Gradually, others came from Asia, Africa, South America, and over time, every part of the planet.

Prejudices were everywhere. Ignorance was rampant. Immigrants from some nations began to dislike and hate others based solely on the language they spoke, the food they ate, their customs, and even the color of their skin.

Racism and bigotry are not natural: they are taught, passed from generation to generation.

OUR NATION’S LEADERS HAVE AN ENORMOUS EFFECT ON EVERYDAY LIFE IN AMERICA

It is an irrefutable fact that our country’s presidents were a mixture of good men who served our nation’s people to the best of their ability, and the majority for other reasons far less admirable.

Over my 80 years, I have experienced the effects of 14 presidents. I exclude Harry Truman because I was too young to remember him. Only 13 men lived in our White House, but Trump’s two terms were not consecutive.

For my own purposes, I have rated each of them based on the quality of life the majority experienced while they were in office. Sadly, I consider only one a “great leader,” John Fitzgerald Kennedy. I believe that the three worst held office during my life. I will leave you to consider who the other two are, but it is clear that Donald Trump will forever be remembered as the worst of all time.

WITH ASSISTANCE FROM PUTIN, JAMES COMEY, AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA, ONE OLD MAN IS DESTROYING MY AMERICA.

Of course, I blame Trump and his hypocritical party for everything which is wrong about our nation today. However, the “Trump Effect” is much greater than one, old man and his political party.

Because Trump is a lifetime criminal, a sexual predator, and our nation’s greatest traitor, these negative qualities should be enough to prevent him from ever holding public office at any level, especially running as a member of “the party of family values.”

However, one fact stands alone and “his people” are willing to ignore his horrific actions and beliefs: he is a racist, a bigot, and the leader of America’s Neo-Nazi movement. There are millions of America’s citizens who share his anti-American beliefs. The truth is, our country has never moved forward. It continues to be the same prejudiced, backwards nation it was in 1776.

The “Trump Effect” encouraged the worst of our nation to slither up from the slime at the bottom of a cesspool.

I would be remiss if I excluded five men and one woman from these despicable expatriates.

John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett granted Trump total immunity. He continues to violate the Constitution with every breath, every day. Because Trump is above the law, he has virtually repealed the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, 10th and 14th Amendments of the Law of the Land. It pains me to know that he has abused the limited powers given him by our Founding Fathers, including his ability to pardon anyone he wishes. I will never forgive him for pardoning the 1,600 traitors who engage in the January 6 insurrection.

How much longer are you willing to allow Trump and his army of fascists to destroy your freedom, your rights?

On November 3rd, we can remove his cowardly and hypocritical supporters from our government. While you still possess the right to vote, use your only weapon wisely.
