Will my State, Nevada, Lead the Fight to Save America?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
I live in Northern Nevada. My state is accurately defined as
a “swing state.” I have lived in the Silver State since 1986, and during
election years, it is almost always a mystery how the people voted until all
ballots are counted.
However, early voting statistics are often indicators about
what the final results might be.
IS NEVADA EXPERIENCING A “BLUE WAVE?”
Early voting and voting by mail have become increasingly
popular. While some voters wait for election day, November 3rd, I am
disabled and voting by mail is often the only way to exercise my First
Amendment right.
Outsiders believe that our current governor, Joe Lombardo, a
Republican, is popular, However, if you live in Nevada, and are an informed
voter, you have a different opinion.
Lombardo is just another Trump sycophant. All of his actions
over the last four years helped the super-rich and added even more wealth to
their already outrageous bank accounts.
In the important areas, employment, escalating housing
costs, healthcare, and education, he is a complete failure.
Unemployment is the highest in all western states.
Lombardo allowed billionaire developers unrestricted rights
to build houses and apartments, although many of our state’s dwellings remain
unoccupied. He promised lower housing costs, but facts prove that they continue
to cost more than the average worker can afford.
Not only have healthcare costs continued to rise, our state
desperately needs about 250 doctors, and more than 1,000 nurses. Like his
master, Lombardo continues to fail the needs of our people.
Nevada’s schools have always been near the bottom of
national rankings, but under Lombardo’s rule, they dropped from 44th
to 48th.
The good news, and hopefully an indication for change, early
voting has a tale to tell.
Although we have no way of knowing whether Lombardo or his
challenger, Aaron Ford, received their votes, we do know that about 30,000 more
Democrats than Republicans have already made their choice.
ONE FACT MAY OFFER AN EXPLANTION
The results of the 2020 election were undoubtedly focused on
the eviction of Trump from our White House. Although this is a midterm
election, we are not choosing a president, a vote for any Republican is clearly
a vote for the worst man in the world.
POLLS TAKEN IN 2026 ARE NOTHING MORE THAN “EDUCATED GUESSES”
Let me be clear about one issue: I do not believe in polls.
I, like many other informed Americans, ignore all calls on my wireless phone if
the number is unknown to me, I reject the call and block the number. No one,
absolutely no one, has a right to have information about my choices in any
election. I am a lifelong Independent, and proud of that fact.
The perfect example was offered in 2016. Hillary Clinton had
what most “experts” believed to be an insurmountable lead. The results were
catastrophic and continue to create a dangerous and destructive situation
today.
We now know that the election was rigged by Putin and Trump,
but this fact offers additional proof why I am reluctant to consider the
results of polls.
Treat your vote like it is: your most precious right, and
your most important responsibility. Use your power wisely.
